  How many Ghanaians are working? 40% of the population are still in school, crawling or in between. So where is the 18 million coming from? The number does not include the unemployed who have no regular income

  Suffice it to say that a lot of parents have opened accounts for their children. So to say 18 million Ghanaians don't trust the banks is misleading

  opening a bank account in Ghana is like a tug of war.recently my wife and i wanted to open a joint account with one of the leading banks in the country and the kind of hell they made us go through was unbelievable.we own individual accounts with same bank but yet they treated us like we wanted to do some kind of money laundering.we ended up forgetting about the whole transaction and left without opening the account.

  Some years ago, I got frustrated trying to open up a bank accountMany demands were made and I finally gave up.I had some thousands of cedis to save which could have helped the bank a lot.Here in Europe, the Banks encourage you to open up an account with them but not in Ghana.You even have problems to withdraw some amount from your savings!Sometimes, you are told that there is no money!Why then save there?

At what age should individuals open bank accounts in their own names in Ghana? How many people belong to this age group? How many Ghanaians have bank accounts in trust for their children? Please give us accurate media reports
