This is a clear indication of the NDC Government's inability to successfully solve Ghana's economic challenges. The reason is they don't have the right calibre of people with right knowledge, skill, experience and qualification to tackle the issues confronting them. Look at the Caliber of the Finance Minister and his Deputies and you can tell from the outlook they are not material for Leadership in the Finance Industry.

What a shame!. Pressed by Kafui Dey if she would concede to the figure claimed by Dr. Bawumia, this shameless deputy finance minister said: “…I don’t know that number but I’m just saying that it’s not unusual for that kind of business and, therefore, whichever agency is buying gas to produce electricity, it’s an ongoing process…yes it is a debt but it is not a burning debt.”
Things Fall Apart and the center cannot hold.

The circumlocutions did not answer the question. We have a right to know, including the children yet to be born whether we owe the Nigeria gas company the amount in question, who incurred the debt and, most importantly, IF the cause of the dunsor, dumsor is as a result of the indebtedness as disclosed by Dr.Bawumia.
If the cause is financial, then what is the sense in creating a new ministry and appointing a new minister to add to the weighting public sector wages and the dancing around the problem and the cacophony about renting unsustainable floating electricity generating barges for?
Somebody is not telling us the TRUTH.There is pronounced lack of integrity by the government and its appointees.
Economic statistics being brewed? Is there any cogent reason the IMF should compile our figures or subject them to their acid test and scrub our public sector wage bill of ghost names?Something which could have been handled excellently by the innumerable unemployed graduates?
Why pay all those economic advisors if they cannot estimate correctly the price of crude oil?
How funny! The IMF does not trade in crude oil. They depend on statistics from the oil producing and marketing companies. So who AT ALL will bypass the original sources and rely on a secondary source which is most likely to have distortions? Was the GNPC in deep slumber and, therefore, could not help estimate the cash flow from our portion of crude oil revenues?
No wonder that the finance minister and his entourage over-estimated crude oil income because they had buried their heads in the sand in the fashion of the proverbial ostrich and had refused to follow debates by the US Congress to open up the latter's crude oil deposits.
Absolutely nothing will work until we fix the economy. That is going to be an onerous task for a government which takes delight in lip service solutions and is accustomed to beating the side of the drum and leaving the top untouched.
Our economy is sitting on thorns,at this juncture.Any upward adjustment of the Fed's policy rate to further strengthen the USD will send the Cedi tumbling as before, bearing in mind our borderline foreign exchange reserves which is inadequate to prop up the medium of exchange and our mountainous debt.
The octopus tentacles resemblance economic predicaments have put the government in a state of quandary.
They should curtail the non-life threatening imports and shoot for a trade surplus and go all out to export, export and export! It is our magic wand. The massive borrowings at exorbitant interest rates and the panhandling from our so-called development partners are limiting.
A few years ago,China was a country of straw. All what they did was to produce comparatively cheaper and ephemeral products to undercut markets in the rich countries by purposefully holding down the foreign exchange rate of the Yuan to artificially suppress the cost of production and enhance competition.
That was the game changer. The ultimate result being a vault of trillions of USD of foreign currency reserve. Now
does China need to borrow from any country? No!Do they need the IMF?No!
Do they have to worry about a wholly depleted foreign exchange backing good only for three months of imports? No!

Only an inefficient and uncaring government will refuse to admit to owing Nigeria Gas for oil imported for good economic activity. But then again the government agency does not want to acknowledge the debt meaning the money could have diverted for a private purpose. This is corruption at the best. How long is it going to take the NDC government to realize that it has done enough damage to the Ghana. This is so pathetic
