Ghana's Black Satellites on Sunday won bronze at the 19th Africa Youth Championship (AYC) after beating Mali 3-1 in an entertaining third-place playoff.
Beaten 1-0 by Mali in the group stage, Ghana made sure they got their revenge in style at the Stade Leopold Senghor in Dakar.
Mali started brightly, but it was the Black Satellites who were causing all sorts of problems for Mali from set pieces and they took the lead through that route.
A Ghana free kick was half cleared and after a ferocious shot cannoned off the crossbar, Yaw Yeboah was quickest to react as he tucked in the rebound to give the Satellites the lead in the 24th minute.
Mali came out fighting but it was Ghana who got the next goal of the game.
Yeboah found himself free in the Malian box and coolly slotted home for his second of the game to put Ghana 2-0 up.
Clifford Aboagye made it 3-0 with a beautiful solo goal in the 71st minute after ghosting past the Malian defenders to slot the ball past Sory Ibrahima into the Mali goal.
Mali nearly got a goal back in the 74th minute but Diallo could not get his leg to the ball after Toure set him up.
The game livened up as Mali scored in the 83rd minute of the game through Malick Toure who lobbed the ball from 25 yards into the Ghana net as Black Satellites goalkeeper Kwame Baah came rushing out of his line.
Mali were awarded a penalty three minutes later but Ghanaian goalkeeper Baah made the save to keep the scoreline at 3-1, which effectively ended Mali's hope of a comeback.

The Flying Eagles, inspired by a noisy atmosphere inside Stade Léopold Sédar, brought the hosts down to their knees with a great display to win the African Youth Championship
Nigeria defeated Senegal 1-0 to win the 20th edition of the African U20 Championship played on Sunday night at the Stade Léopold Sédar Senghor in Dakar.
A first half wonder strike from Bernard Bulbwa was all the highly-talented Nigerians needed to seal a seventh title on African soil.
The host came into the game with the intention of avenging their 3-1 defeat to the Nigerians in the opening day of the competition but were halted by goalkeeper Joshua Enaholo’s brilliance.
El Hadji Niang had the game’s first chance when he came one-on-one with the Nigeria goalkeeper but saw the attempt fail as Enaholo rushed out on time to save with his legs.
In the 19th minute, Bulbwa trapped the ball nicely before delivering a spectacular thunderbolt that caught Senegal goalie Ibrahim Sy and silence the deafening crowd at the stadium.
After the goal, Nigeria slowed the tempo of the game as Les Lionceaux dominated ball possession. Three minutes past the half-hour mark, the homers had a good chance to score after Sidy Sarr had squared to captain Roger Gomis, but the latter fired wide to the chagrin of the crowd.
On resumption of the second half, Senegal resumed with the same tempo and few minutes into the game were denied by Nigeria goalie Enaholo who palmed away Niang’s goal-bound drive to a thunderous applause from the pockets of Nigeria fans at the stadium.
After failing to make their dominance count, goalkeeper Sy made another superb save from Ifeanyi Matthew three minutes from time. The Flying Eagles held on to achieve a record extending seventh title in the biennial tournament.
Ghana’s Yaw Yeboah was named player of the tournament as Bulbwa got the man of the match, while Musa Muhammed won the top scorer’s award with four goals all gotten from the penalty spot.

Is it a crime for Kotoko to demand for accountability stewardship? I did respect you a lot but now you've lost it. Damn!!
