Why can't we de-regulate the energy sector and give Ghanaians the chance to invest in that area ? Should it be always foreigners?

We have such problems, because we are insincere and corrupt,even should such chances be created, people in government will share it amongst themselves.

l bet you there is a Ghanaian out there who has the capability to solve this energy problem , but his activities is being thwarted because he doesn't belongs to the NDC. Oh Maame Ghana I cry for you always !!!!

(I mean the person representing you in parliament) He sums up what is suppose to come from La Dadekotopon. I know many communities just like you have made mistakes by electing people who have nothing in common with the values of the communities they represent. IT WAS BY MISTAKE THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED. YOU CAN REDEEM YOURSELVES WHEN GIVEN THE CHANCE AGAIN. Is the honorable Spio-Garbrah telling Ghanaians that despite all the monies Ghana's governments, from J.J. Rawlings through J.A.Kufour to John Mahama, have invested into this fiasco of Ghana power have all been for not and need foreigners to come run our power generation and distribution system for people claiming to have been matured at the time of independence?

Spio-Garbrah and others with jurisdiction over Ghana must put on the breaks for a minute and conduct a thorough examination of any original plans for the complete electrification of Ghana at the time of Nkrumah's CPP to ascertain how subsequent government activities had either been in line with or deviated from those plans. What exactly are those foreign investors to do? Are we now going to sell another major utility to foreign interests like J.A. Kufour did selling off Ghana Telecom to Vodafone? Civilized and industrialized nations where free market principles drive economic activities for the rich and powerful have never acquiesced to handing over utilities to foreigners so why must it be so in Ghana? Are we not the very Ghana where NPP and NDC look forward to copying all things UK and or USA for transplant in Ghana even when conditions on the ground are unfavorable for the success of such implementations? Why not stick with that trend until we see our lords and masters go the route of foreign control of their respective utility systems before we do so?

Reliance on Russian natural gas supply to power some utilities in some EU nations cannot be misconstrued as being equivalent to selling interest in our utilities to foreign ownership.

If Ghana has to take their own destiny in their own hands, we ned to change our Education system and concentrate on science and technology. These areas are where the innovation has to come from and not the subjects,such as political science and the unproductive subjects, which students are forced to study at the University at the moment.Ghana is really lacking behind and as a consequence the country is suffering. We are relying too much on the colonial Education, but the colonialists have changed their Education and with innovations from Universities and foresight of their leaders, have made a good stripe in improving the standard of leaving of their population. It is alright for us to get angry that foreigners are taking the cream away from us but we need to ask ourselves whether if this is the fault of those who come to exploit Ghanaians, or whether we allow ourselves to be exploited, because we can only talk and not have the skills to use our own resources.Ghanaians have suffered enough with utiliies and many will rather welcome genuine investors to bring their skills and technology into the countryas much as we don't want this.
