The mission schools are set up with the goal of training students who are willing to conform to their old age traditions. Nobody is forced to go there and nobody can impose on them who to accept. I the govt thinks that is overbearing, they can give the schools back to the missions to fully run their schools. This is a waste of the courts time and generate undue tension in the country. If Ghana is secular does that mean a Methodist can just walk over to a mosque and demand they change their way of operation/worship to accommodate him ???????

Muslims should always sow good seeds to bear good fruit. If they invest in Mecca they will only reap titles like Alhaji and Hajia and they would not have enough money to build good quality schools for their children and the end result is that a lot of their youth will end up in prison and a sizeable number will become Kayayes as is currently the case in Ghana. Muslims should also learn to sacrifice a bit to pay their zakat instead of the usual beggarly mentality. I know of a prominent Islamic scholar in West Africa, not Ghana, who vowed never to wear Babanriga( Batakari or parachute apparel) since he claimed it is a waste because the number of yards of fabric that go into one set of Batakari is enough to provide for many needy persons. This is what we call religion from the heart and not that of titles and accolades.
You just consider the Ahmedis, they are a minority of all Muslim sects in Ghana yet they have the highest number of educational and health institutions in Ghana. The question is, why is it so and the answer is simple; Ahmadis don't go to Mecca and so they invest their money into the building of good quality institutions for the general good. This is what the generality of Muslims must learn from and stop trying to reap from where they never sowed.

Muslims must first denounce the sharia, the legal component of their religion without which islam is corrupt, to have the moral right to demand for religious freedom. In a sharia court, the testimony of a non muslim is half that of a muslim. A non muslim found guilty of killing a muslim is executed while a muslim guilty of killing a non muslim is given a light sentence. Christians are not allowed to practise their religion openly. Non muslims are required to pay a special tax called jizya, for not being muslims. Those cannot afford the tax are given the option to either convert to islam or be executed. Even muslims themselves are not free under sharia as Allah has commanded the killing of muslims who decide to leave islam.

Mahama(a Gonja) is following the prescriptions of OIC.You remember an MP from Gonjaland declared that adulterous women should be stoned to death. Again Boko Haram in Akyem terrorized Muslim women for buying food from Christians yet the IGP(a Gonja Muslim) kept mute. Muslims burnt down a Christian mission house in Atebubu yet the IGP was again silent. AMA banning churches in classrooms, Northern Regional Minister accusing the Christian clergy of encouraging politicians to be corrupt. These are all plans aimed at suppressing Christianity to please the OIC. These are all indicators that Mahama is feverishly handing over Ghana to the Organisation of Islamic Conference for Money. We should remember Islam is useless without direct state support and so Mahama is providing that support to Muslims to grow in Ghana whilst at the same time suppressing Christians.

Christians should have their eyes opened because these Muslims' demand of their rights it is step towards something serious. What is worrying is that they demand their rights but deny non-Muslims their rights in their domain. Going further afield they always hide behind "Islamic country status" to perpetrate all sorts of atrocities against Christians, which are well documented. Example of such countries are Egypt, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey etc. Christians should stand up against this diabolical demands of the Muslims.

Prof, though I am not a lawyer let alone a constitutional one, my understanding of the role of the Supreme Court among others, is the proper interpretation of the constitution. If I am right, then, as far as this matter is concerned, there is no ambiguity on the right to freedom of religion guaranteed under the 1992 Constitution. No one is disputing that Ghanaian Muslims have the right to practice their faith in Ghana and for that reason, why should the Supreme Court be asked to interpret a constitutional clause that is not in doubt?
What the Muslims are claiming is that they are being denied the right to practice their religion as they see fit and also being forced to practise the Christian faith. If that is the case, then they are being denied the freedom guaranteed to them by the constitution. Therefore, they need a court decision to assert their constitutional right that is allegedly being denied them. The proper place or court to go is the High Court and not the Supreme Court.
I will be surprised if the Supreme Court does not refer the case to a lower (High) court but hears the petition. That would be a waste of precious judicial time.

I any democratic institution supreme court decisions are usually highly contested and controversial. The reason is that leagal theory is no monolithic. Two qualified honest lawyers often do see have opposing views of the same issue.
Often their colleague judges who write the minority opinion scream the loudest against the majority. LETS WAIT FOR THE SUPRE COURT.

How will it affect the church if Muslims ask for their right of religion in schools. Sure it has been an age old tradition/culture of these missionary institutions to impose the Christian faith on all students, but traditions evolve with time as we have witnessed in a whole lot of events.(it was tradition for our forefathers to pour libations during all events to thank the ancestors, but we don't do that anymore, why?)because civilization is at a boiling point globally.
Christians alike (Mr.charles Wrekko Brobbey)just to name a few attended Islamic mission schools, and they were never subjected to join the Islamic faith because the purpose of the school is to educate in the sciences of development of the nation and student.
These missions schools we are talking about here are funded by government with the tax payers money which Muslims as citizens of this great nation are contributors to and their demand for freedom of worship which our constitution clearly allows cannot be over ignored.
Many people on here and in this country only call themselves Christians by name but i hardly see real christianity or the true teachings of Jesus in them. I don't believe Jesus will oppose religious tolerance, and will like to see his true followers utter such hatred and vile persecution of their fellow human being just because they have different religious beliefs and demand the freedom to worship in their own way.
Let us deepen our religious tolerance, because first we are all Ghanaians before our religious inclinations and we don't have anywhere else to go if the most important aspect of our lives (peace) is destroyed by our quest to dominate each other with religion!
Both Mohammed (S.w.s) and Jesus (R.a) came to preach peace and love for mankind and I don't see how each faith accomplish their quest by HATRED.
