Those who caused the illegal payment to be made are today holding positions in the NDC. Former President Jerry Rawlings claims 60 per cent of “thieves” in government now hold positions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The former president alleged that those people fought for party positions just to protect themselves from a possible prosecution for their evil deeds.

Mr. Rawlings who was reacting to the acquittal of business man Alfred Woyome stated that prosecution presented a poor case just to protect some people in government implicated in the case.

Citing the involvement of former Attorney General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu in the Woyomegate scandal as an example, Mr. Rawlings questioned why she was left off the hook.

"Woyome the thief is now a free man because some of our people who were involved in the thievery like Betty Mould and one other person were not produce in court for interrogation to provide vital information to jail him," he fumed.

“When 40% of the corrupt people have lost their positions to enable us clean the party, 60% have now come in to protect themselves and we also vote them. Are we so stupid” he quizzed.

In the case of Woyome, where is the state chief prosecutor Mr Nerquaye Tetteh, who handled the case and advised the Minister of Justice and Attorney General that the government's case was weak therefore there was no need to continue with it which led to Woyome winning the judgement debt case.

WHERE IS THAT MAN NERQUAYE TETTEH???? Ghanaians are cursed if not why have they all forgotten the man who was at the centre of the case? Also where is the wife of the crooked and unpatriotic state prosecutor, Mrs.Gifty Nerquaye Tetteh, in whose bank account Woyome was said to have transfered Ghc400,000 as payment to the husband who sold Ghana to Woyome.

I am not a lawyer and I do not practice law, but I would have expected the state's attorneys who are so angry that the public faults them to have developed a systematic case for the criminal prosecution. This ought to have included a precise definition of what exactly is "financial engineering". The various people in Woyome's organizational who did such financial engineering should have been produced to testify what they did and when. While all this was going on, let us not forget that the Supreme Court has already ruled that Woyome did NOT (I repeat "NOT") have a valid contract on the basis of which he could make the claims that he did! One would gave expected that a detailed paper trail would have been produced for the high court trial judge, supported by the actual human beings behind those papers, to firmly establish Woyome's guilt. The performance of the State's Attorneys was pathetic and reflects very poorly of just what kind of training the Ghana School of Law gives it's students. I do not know criminal procedure but certain things are just a matter of common sense. Martin Amidu forced the issue. I am one of those who believes this whole Woyome palava was a collosal conspiracy emanating out of Atta Mills presidential office to ensure the NDC government will have enough money for the up coming national elections. Presidential staffers including the then Chief of Staff and every one of the NDC hangers on should have been queried. The paper trail which showed how Woyome distributed his ill gotten gains should have been developed. This is easy to do. Forensic accounting can accomplish this in the blink of an eye. It is very very sad how bad the extent of corruption and graft and extortion has become in Ghana. A secondary issue is whether or not the Supreme Court's order for Woyome to refund the money will include a directive for Woyome to pay interest on the money from the day that Supreme Court judgment was issued. Nobody seem to be talking about that. My god. Martin Amidu. Where are you? Are there provisions within Ghana law or criminal prosecutions for the appointment if a "Special Prosecutor"? If not, perhaps parliament should consider such provisions for the future!
