“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.
He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.
“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”
“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

There have been a number of issues arising out of the just ended National Congress of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA). Subsequently, several people have made various commentaries on different aspects of the issues. The outgone National Executive Committee (NEC) of NASPA therefore wishes to provide the following information for all members of NASPA and the general public.
1. The immediate past President (Ekow Vincent Assafuah) hijacked congress and breached the constitution of the Association at the just ended Annual congress which took place from 6 -8 March, 2015 at Woezor Hotel, Ho in the Volta Region.
2. A vetting committee duly appointed and approved by the NEC worked diligently but their vetting results was opposed by the outgone President because some of his candidates were disqualified.
3. There has not been any imposition of leaders on the Association by anybody, group of persons or Management of the Service Scheme. 4. No political party functionary was invited or took part in the just ended congress except the Scheme Managers who were there to give their support at the Opening ceremony to which they were invited. 5. Candidates who were disqualified cannot contest NASPA elections because they failed to pass through the vetting process.
The outgone NASPA president has brought the name of the Association into disrepute by the following actions: He contravenes the acts of the constitution by acting in isolation of NEC. Running to the media to spread false report, mischief and palpable lies about the just ended NASPA congress. Used his position as the President to engage in partisan politics and to aid candidates to pass through the Association’s vetting panel which did not materialize. Our mandate as NASPA national executives have ended and cannot hold ourselves as representatives of the Association.
Meanwhile the Coordinating Secretary with his mandate to ensure the continuity of the Association will until any major decision taken, coordinate activities of NASPA at the national level. All Regional Executives should remain calm. Everything will be put right according to the tenets of NASPA constitution. NASPA –Ready to serve!!! SIGNED OFOE CEPHAS KWAME (Coordinating Secretary)
