OK. Lets make it as basic as possible - lets say to kindergarten level, for this simple moron to understand.
Even according to his own statistics, kwame Nkrumah produced 500 medical doctors and built a medical school from scratch in just 10 years.
So assuming that, a basic minimum of 500 medical doctors were trained every 10 years since then, how many medical doctors would we by now have in Ghana?
My basic maths tells me with much difficulty that it should be worked out this way. There is approximately 5-ten periods which make up the 50 years since the 1966 coup d'etat, which makes it 500x5=2,500.
This figure is close to the number of medical doctors that the graduate holder from the University of Ghana states, currently exists in the country. He applauds this as progress.
Of course any kindergarten kid would applaud this as progress if all the variables including population growth since then and the actual required number of medical doctors that is desperately required throughout the country, is ignored.
It seems to me that this spastic Okudjeto is rightly making his befuddled projections in his delusions of a country that stood still.
What a twerp! And this is a whole Minister (Deputy) of Education. Mahama has really done us in badly. Whaaaaaat! Cry beloved country.

Idiots with no home training, no proper nurture and primitive on top like you have access to our money ? Akans are capable of managing their own affairs and it is time all akans come together and vote these stupid ethnocentric and haters of Islam out of power. Fifii Kwettey said no muslim can be president of Ghana a Togolese who is telling Ghanaians what to do. Why is ndc not choosing a muslim as a presidential or vice presidential candidate ? Ghanaian muslims must open their eyes wide to see how ndc is using them and pretending to love them. Since ndc came to power in 1992 what policies have they put in place to benefit muslims apart from the Ramadan holiday ?and even that is not a policy, they exchanged the demolition of the makola mosque for that holiday just to decieve them. BBC FUCKING NEWS!!!!!! IF you want us to go by that then we have a lot for you. Its damn fucking you are not using your real name. Son of a bitch and bastard.

BBC NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! is either an ewe or a Ga- Adangbe. The hate in him can never be a pepeni. There is one thing Ghanaians must take note, that our northeners and for that matter muslims don't hate like that. Northerners do not envy people who are industrious and hardworking so are muslims, these set of people love to be with successful people and do everything from the bottom of their hearts. Muslims and northerners don't think ill about others and they always want to feel at home wherever they are. We shouldn't misconstrue what John Mahama is doing as the will of northerners since probably his advisers might not be all northerners but non northerners. I do not like ndc but John Mahama was once upon a time a fine gentleman who has changed to be a monster because of bad advisers or been initiated into the cult of the evil ndc presidency.Ghanaians must remember that to ascend to that top most height in the ndc, you need to be initiated by swallowing a frog and drinking human blood. We all remember former vice president Arkaah got some beatings for refusing to be initiated and prof George Benneh refused the vice presidency because of that to replace Arkaah which ushered in prof Mills. NDC is evil.

Ablakwa, you are dead wrong with your figures. Those were figures between 1951 to 1961 when Nkrumah increased the number of doctors after over 120 years of British rule from 156 to 500 doctors that was over 200 percent increase. Ablakwa, Ghana Medical School was established or launched in 1962 under Nkrumah. So Baby Ablakwa do the arithmetic. By now we should have over 5000 trained doctors. You guys cannot do even simple arithmetic. What a shame!
Meanwhile, Nkrumah was recruiting black doctors from the Caribbean like Barbados, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica etc. Ablakwa, let me remind you small boys that Ghana had two sets of 5years development plans from 1951 up until 1964 which was replaced by a gaint 7 years development plan which was planed by the 40 best economist of that era. Bui was spposed to be finished in the early 70s. It took another 40 years to get it done.
Look, Ablakwa the best thing you young guys can do is to look at the depths from where Ghana started and then you know the greatness of Nkrumah the mastermind who strategically planned the Ghana we know today.
Basicall, the new nation Ghana started from Zero with not a single industry. Again let me help you son, your 1961 figures even pales against those you have now by any proportion. Since mobil phones were not available at that period in time you cannot use that as a premise. That is false.
Ablakwa, I will advise you to do your homework well before you go public. Ghana is marking time because of such Ministers like you who know next to nothing. Mahama will do well if he forms a ALL-IN unity government if he is elected in 2016. That is the best way Forward. Nkrumah Lives!

If Nkrumah took nine years on our political scene to bring precisely on board 344 doctors in addition to the already 156 doctors and dentists, then shouldn't we be clocking much more than the 2,615 doctors he is proudly preaching as some achievement in our almost 50 debacle years since Kwame Nkrumah was overthrown?

Corney, it seems to me you don't know the anatomy of Ghana before Independence and thereafter until the ill-fated 24th Feb. 1966.
Yes Ghana had railways but it was only routed through the mining and timber areas like Accra to Kumasi and then to Takoradi which was our only harbour back then. It was Nkrumah who built the only double tracks railway lines between Kotoku through Aboso to Hunni Valley and modernising our trains with Speed Trains like Blue Trains.
The N1 or George Bush Highway as it is now called was part of the seven years develpoment plan. In the SYDP it was called the outer circle. The inner circle is the ring road to Korle Lagoon to Labadi. The N1 were part of projects which were supposed to have been completed around 1972 i.e. a continuation of the Motorway.
Corney, do you have any idea about Ghana in the 50s and 60s? Look, we were a peasant folk, it was Nkrumah who got us awake with his enlightening programms like free education and healthcare. From Ghana News Agency, Bank of Ghana, Ghana Commercial Bank, State Insurance Corp, GNTC to compete with foreign firms like SCAO, CFAO, UAC,UTC etc.2 new Universities , extention of Legon and Takoradi Harbour. Tema harbour and township, 5 state of the art Hotels, roads, hospitals, clinics. Look Ghana had only one rural clinic in 1951. By 1961 there were 30 of them and before 24th Feb 1966 there were over 70 of them. Kwabenya Atomic energy was completed in 1964 and was traning atomic physicists with the help of a Cambridge atomic physicist by the name of Alan Nunn May. Before Akosombo came into Operation Ghana had only 40MW electrical capacity. Akosombo generated 960MW. See how many fold that came on stream. Ghana water and sewage services, Ghana Navy, Ghana Air Force, Military Academy, Nautical college, Telecommunication School. Can anyone in Ghana sincerely talk about any project without mentioning Nkrumah's Name? Add 69 factories and industries to the mix and then you know the huge dimension and depths of Nkrumah's achievments amidst Saboteurs. Don't try to be a smartass. Hindsight is 20/20.

I don't know if you mean anatomy of Ghana you mean Accra because many of the things you listed here are largely in Accra but you forgot that Ghana is not only Accra.
Nobody is saying Nkrumah didn't do anything for Ghana but Ghana has made more progress than when he was there,I can tell you that during Nkrumah's time more than 90% of the country was in darkness.
In the Volta region for example not more than five towns had electricity which were even there during the colonial time using generators up until Rawlings came before electricity was extended to that part of the country and the entire Northern region only Tamale had power through generator, the same applied to so many regions in the country, electricity and water was limited to Accra and few other towns.
You think Ambassador,Continental and Star Hotels were state of the art hotels, which were the other two hotels, are you proud of 5 hotels almost all based in Accra?
How many towns in Ghana has access roads during Nkrumah's time as compare to this time?
I just watched a short documentary on Facebook which Nkrumah was reported got £250m but left a debt of £600m,the documentary even said he became a millionaire.
Ghana made a lot of progress but unfortunately we have a minister who instead of keeping his mouth shut will only say we have 2,165 doctors and 27 million mobile phones, very sad.

The Akosombo dam was inuagurated on 23rd Jan. 1966 and a month later the traitors and Saboteurs ousted Nkrumah with the aid of the CIA on that ill-fated day of 24th Feb. 1966. Do you blame Nkrumah the mastermind for the delay of electricity in your part of Ghana? No, he had in mind to lighten up the whole of Ghana. Look Corney, the Ghana International Trade Fair, which was built in conjunction with the Accra Airport, was about to open in March 1966. It was postponed until a year later. Busia and the Notorious Liars Council were totally overwhelmed.
Corney, I come from Akropong and before I turned 16 I knew the four Corners of Ghana very well due to my relatives who were teachers and partors spread across Ghana Presby Mission schools. From Jasikan to Ho, from Begoro to Atabübo excuse my spelling. From Temale to Lawra. From Takoradi to Axim. From Accra to Kumasi. I travelled with my mum a lot during the vacation.
Let me correct you on the the supposed money Nkrumah got from the British. The amount was 200 Million Pounds to be precise and it was money accrued from 1951 to 1956 when Nkrumah was made as Leader of Government Business by the British in 1951. The British were broke after the second World War. They were rescued by America on Marshall Plan so they couldn't have afforded to give us such huge chunk of money.
Corney, Nkrumah died penniless. The Atlantic Hotel in Takoradi, City Hotel in Kumasi, Meridian Hotel in Tema and a host of Guest houses like Temale, Navrongo, Wenkyi etc are some of the Hotels he built in Addition to the ones you mentioned.
Oh yes Ghana has made some progress but it would have been huge if Nkrumah was allowed to continue with SYDP. Most the projects that wer of late completed should taken place 40 years ago. Corney, again this should taken place in the early 70s. Busia with his dwarf brain just took a red pen and cancelled projects which have been already paid for. So Corney blame these Mate Meho treasonists and saboteurs for holding us back.
Corney,I know you are not dumb, you have to see the other side of the ledger. Debt and Assets. If your assets outweighs your debt then you are not in debt. Nkrumah invested heavily in education and healthcare. Built over 69 industries from the scratch. Akomsobo took a whooping 39 Million Pounds out of the 200 Million Pounds. Tema Harbour took another 18 Million Pounds to build. Roads, Schools, Black star line 14 ships, Ghana Airways, Tema fishing corp with roughly 20 Trawlers, fast Speed Trains, Ghana Navy boats, Air Force planes and training; all these cost money. Corney please do the simple arithmetic. Corney trust you me. I lived it. Why do you take it from others? I am telling it straight from the horse mouth. I am out of here dude! Happy Sunday

My piece was not restricted to Accra alone. It encompassed the whole of Ghana. By the way, the 69 industries and mechanised farms were all strategically dispersed throughout the Country. In Volta Region we have the cotton, coffee, tea and tobacco farms. The textile industry as well. The Adomi Bridge to connect volta Region. teachers Training, schools and hospitals built so I don't see why you seem not to recognise these achievemnets which the colonial Brits never cared a hoot about. Corney, believe me to be, had Nkrumah stayed on even after the completion of the SYDP Ghana would have been a different place than we see today. Projects which are being completed today were the ones which should have been completed in the 70s. The oil exploration in the Volta Basin by the Russians came to a halt. Busia swaped it with Saltpond due to his bias towards Ewes. Up until today no government has reignited it. Why?!

I was also in the primary school when Dr Nkrumah was overthrown, but i never went to school bare footed and properly dressed.I had on my Achimota sandals or my brigade sandales there was a sandals called brigade which was also allowed in my school. I went to a mission school and every monday was an inspection of uniforms and shoes ,as well as every thursday and woe betides anyone who doesnt iron your uniform or pioneer scarf well the rod will never spare you. My father and his friends in the agric sector were all young men in their 30s-40s but had cars which they purchased from the UTC Motors. Please, sometimes you people must speak the truth a little bit,you might be among the under privileged like some kids are now in this ndc era but that doesnt mean everybody. Dr Nkrumah might have his short falls but that doesnt take away his good things, it will be better for you to say some rather than we all went to school bare footed because i dont really know which part of Ghana you went to that school. Ghana has cities, towns, villages and hamlets. I can tell you at this 21st century in Ghana some kids go to school in tatters with no shoes on,go to the villages and hamlets who vote for the ndc even some towns who vote for this ndc. I thank God from the colonial time my hometown was a capital town of a region so we never lacked electricity and water untill now ndc dumsor, dumsor. So please do not make your submissions in general.I was more happier in Nkrumah and his cpp time as a child than ndc as an old adult. I weep for my kids today and my grandkids to come tomorrow.

In my class, there were only 3 kids whose fathers were having cars so I did not say nobody had a car.I said the number of young people owing cars and other properties have increased now.If you have any problem with NDC please don't drag me into it,that's your own business.Ghana is moving forward by all standards, though we could have done much better by now.Thank you.

Boy Kofi, in the late 50s and early 60s Ghana was a great to be as a Ghanaian. Look when my elder brother who was young man in the 60s came back from Britain after studies, he got a brand new car from Briscoe on the liberty Avenue opposite Kingsway. He was given an estate house at Labone. Look these were the best times in Ghana. I remember those days the spirit of giving ordinary people a lift. They just wave their hands on the roadside and were given a ride to Accra central. Ghana was indeed a place to be. Farmers were driving big Pontiac and Mercedes Benz 180. My dad had a Vauxhall. Stop telling big lies about Ghana.

I was born and raised in Accra so I can tell the anatomy of Accra like no other. It is unfortunate that we have guys who didn't experienced this period they are talking about but only through hearsay. Had Ghana stayed the course without outsiders and the enemy within arresting our economic and industrial development we would not be having this discourse but rather talk about things that would move our dear nation forword. The level of blankness and aberration in Ghana at present leaves much to be desired.

"I'm a cow" said the cow.
"Right, and what do you do?" asked the zebra.
"I make milk for the farmer" said the cow.
"Cool." The zebra then saw this funny looking little white thing and ran over to it. "Hi, I'm a zebra, what are you?"
"I'm a chicken," said the chicken.
"Oh, right, what do you do?" asked the zebra.
"I make eggs for the farmer." said the chicken.
"Right - o, great, see ya round." Then the zebra saw this very handsome beast that looked almost exactly like her without the stripes. She ran over to it and said, "Hi, I'm a zebra, what are you?"
"I am a Stallion," said the stallion.
"Wow," said the zebra. "What do you do?"
"Take off your bikini darling, and I'll show you."

"Mr. Know everything,Okudjeto Ablakwah" you always want to get attention for yourself but commenting on irrelevant issues that has nothing to do with your ministry. The ministry which you have been gifted to belong is crumbling and that does not concern you except irrelevant ones which you have no jurisdiction. What strides are you talking about and under who? Surely not under NDC govenment. President Kuffuour made a lot of strides during his 8 years rule and you, the NDC have taken less than 6 years to destroy them. But thank God, Time will tell.

By simple mathematics, Dr Nkrumah ruled for 9 years and trained 500 doctors. So, it means he trained at least 50 doctors per year for a population of 7mn people. It is 49 years after Nkrumah and altogether, we have 2,615 doctors. Subtracting the 500 from this figure leaves us with 2,115 doctors trained in a period of 49 years. Just do the division and see who did what. Obviously, Nkrumah was better than all the leaders we've had so far in terms of vision. I don't understand why we keep admitting low numbers in our medical schools. After all, medicine is for the average student and not the genius.

Mr Ablakwa you certainly must be out of your mind by this suggestion that progress has been made since the illegal overthrow of Dr Kwame Nkrumah's government 49years ago by the likes of you. Precisely what has the current incompetent NDC government done that remotely compares with the numerous achievements under Dr Nkrumah's rule? One thing that is for sure under the current administration, corruption is on the ascendancy among the ruling elite of the NDC government, whilst every other human needs is in decline and sometimes do not even come close to our expectation such as the health of the nation for example. Mr Ablakwa and his kind in government must be ashamed of themselves working hard to keep the majority of Ghanaians in darkness every day they remain in office.
