No one can be trusted when it comes to such issues any more as our security is at stake. We should not even allow the VVIP section security to be relaxed so that unscrupulous people take advantage of such freedom afforded to them in the wake of this saga".

The authenticity of the tape needs to established to avoid persecuting an "innocent Man". This must be a good warning to politicians to watch their statements and to get the media propering alerted and participating in all critical public events. An independent news agency present at the event could have easily backed up Mr Mafo's claims of innocence by providing the "undoctored" version of his address.

Instead of discussing how to create jobs, generate electricity etc ...we ate demonstrating over a private citizen's opinion about a situation in Ghana. Something that many chiefs have mentioned. The western chiefs made similar statements in their request for a percentage of the oil proceeds. Otumfour made a similar opinion about how akans were being neglected in this government. Ga chiefs also complained about how Accra was being taken over by other tribes. None of these warranted a demonstration. An opinion of a private citizen. When the northern regions complain of being neglected in development no one screams ethnocentric anything. When the Volta region complains of lack of development no one screams ethnocentric anything. But when a political party member is strategizing about an argument they are going to make to a group of people about how they provide the majority of the resources of the nation but is not reflected in the developments they are receiving..should this be an issue...wouldn't the NDC make the same case in the Volta region? ...don't they already make the argument that the NPP is an Akan party? Is that not ethnocentric?

However people who haven't seen cocoa tree before are enjoying scholarship through the sweat of our cocoa farmers. Osafo Marfo said it right. How many Constituencies are in Volta Region? How many people are there? How many people voted for Okudjato Abrokwah to go to Parliament? Now people who enjoyed free education told us that free education is not good for Ghana. Go and check foreign students with scholarship and check their tribes. Akans should stand up and fight for their right.
  Who spoke against President Mahama when he said Northerners should vote for him and he will ensure that Ashantis go to make Kayayo in the North. Who spoke against President Mills when he said Fantis should vote for him because “Ade wo fie a eye” and again came out with the number of Presidents who have ruled the Nation before with their tribes. Then said it is the turn of Fantis.
  NDC always thinks by using tribal sentiment against NPP would win them power. This time they will fail.

  The Convener of this group made a very revealing statement and concerning the right to vote and be voted for no matter which region one hails from. We don't want to believe by this statement the Convener is suggesting that they don't vote. Because if anything at all of the regions classified as non-Akans their voting patterns and the nature of the overtures made by the ruling NDC party led by John Mahama flies fiercely in the face of the very reasons for which the Convener of this group is staging this demonstration ostensibly to highlight issues of discrimination. To drive the issues home clearly, 1. The Volta region votes and votes massively but their voting patterns have never suggested that there's no discriminatory twist to it. So the attempt to suggest they don't have the right to vote is moot.
  2. In the 3 Northern regions the overbearing stench of ethnicity, tribalism and discrimination that was brought to bear on the elections of 2012 by the NDC led by John Mahama stating that for the NPP to be voted for in the 3 Northern regions, the NPP should present a candidate of Northern extraction was the height of racism, tribal bigotry, ethnicentrism, marginalization and ostracization of the worst kind ever perpetuated by yhe NDC and John Mahama.
  These are but just 2 examples of the proverbial pot calling the kettle black and it is indeed refreshing the Convener of this group has decided to embark on this exercise, but Edudzi Tamakloe should do well to start this campaign in the ruling John Mahama led NDC party and gov't and make sure those racist, discriminatory, bigoted tendencies are completely and absolutely gotten rid off in the NDC party since John Mahama and the NDC party are deeply, frighteningly, and dangerously very much complicit in this very sad spectacle of racism, bigotry, ethnicentrism, tribalism and marginalization of not only the various tribes and ethnic groupings in the country but also against those with disabilities and on the basis of religion.
  Edudzi Tamakloe should go deep and excise and exorcise this canker in the NDC party and govt and Ghana would be the better for it and whilst at it, he could chip in the fact that the NDC thievery that has crippled and collapsed the country and causing the death of hundreds and thousands of Ghanaians in a manner worse than a health pandemic should cease forthwith because Ghanaians have had it up to here with it.   Lazy Ghanaians who would rather skip work to demonstrate about trivial and mundane issues than roll up their sleeves and work to earn their wage, salary, their living. Where were the demonstrators in 2012 when Mahama asked people of Northern descent to vote him as president because he is one of them? Who among the demonstrators loves the members of another tribe more than he loves his own tribe? Where were the demonstrators when Kofi Awoonor ripped apart the validity and essence of the union when he declared that he's first and Ewe and second a Ghanaian? Doesn't that put his tribal interests above that of other tribes and the nation? Where were the demonstrators when recently a Volta Region NDC leader warned that the Volta region is still a no go area for the NPP? Where was the demonstration when Hardi warned there would be violence against the NPP should they come to Tamale south to compete against the NDC candidate? Quit the hypocrisy and deception. Which of the demonstrators have never in the privacy of their bedrooms, party meetings, etc have never made even worse comments than Osafo Maafo's tribal rant? Is it because the comments were made by a leading Akan member of the NPP? Does it mean the members of the other tribes can say anything they want, no matter how divisive or derogatory against the Akans but the Akans cannot make same comments against the other tribes? Is it reverse psychology against Akans? Is tribal bigotry only wrong when it's made by the Akans with non-Akans as their intended targets? Is there state sponsored bigotry against Akans and the NPP?
