The $25,000 donation by GNPC to each player reveals the level of corruption at GNPC. GNPC does not have a competitor, and yet its logo is embossed on the Black Star jersey. What is the GNPC advertising? Paying millions of dollars to players who are extremely rich by any standard is not a wise move. Ghana is a very impoverished country. Absent corruption, we must use our meager resources judiciously.

The manner in which gifts have been showered on these players is disgraceful. Anybody who believes in a causal connection between bonus and team performance in international football needs to have his head examined. Did Germany win the world cup because of a hefty bonus promised to players? I guess Brazil lost 1-7 to Germany in the semi finals because the Brazilian players were not satisfied with the bonus that they were promised.

Why do Ghanaian political and social leaders behave like idiots? These players did not need the money. If you hand them the money they will gladly accept but they don't need the money. The players would not have been shocked if they had received a warm welcome without any financial reward. These players are wise enough to know that they are lucky. Because they do not live in the economic quagmire that many of their country men have to endure.

Even if the players had won, their success would have brought a mere temporary euphoria. The pain and suffering of the ordinary Ghanaians continue.

No wonder this is coming from Pelpuo because he will definitely support Ayariga. The winning bonus and amount given by GNPC should have been okay, since the cost of the HUGELY inflated price of the cars could have been used to provide over 100 bole holes(good drinking water)for the people from Ayariga's district. I live in the US and Pelpuo should know that even the 2015 JEEP is NOT sold for $40,000.00. Thieves !!!!!!

How much do you pay teachers, lecturers, civil servants etc who are dying for this country through their work? I think government is using football to loot the country. Think about this well.
Paying salary to teachers and other workers is a challenge to government, but you have money to buy jeeps, build houses for footballers. It is a misplaced priority! Germany, Britain, USA, etc are not known because of football but commitment to work and develop their nation. Reward all workers well.
