I am wondering when my own people will learn from other tribes in Ghana in terms of electing successors to our paramount throne. I've spent almost all my adult live in Volta region and l am fascinated about how they elect their chiefs and kings. Even the Ashantis, Akyems, the Bronzes from BA, and the Nfantis have better ways of electing their kings. But my own Ga people are a disgrace to mother Ghana. I wished l was born Ewe or Ashanti but not as a Ga or a Northener

Gas can't do it. We are greedy and it has rendered many families poor, and separated many. We like discrimination and have 'pull him down attitude'. We are bringing that into our national politics. We always have derogatory names for almost every tribe. We love to discriminate and fight over properties. I therefore do not think they can resolve any chieftaincy problem.

The way I see it Gas dont like being cheated by their own. Any tribe, however feeble, can impose on the Ga man and strangely would be no problem. But when fellow Ga man tries the same thing you would see the fight that would erupt. We only 'see' civilization when dealing with our fellow Ga man! Very pathetic. This chieftancy issue should never have been a big issue. There are well defined structures and processes put in place from the time of Nii Ayi Kushie through Tackie Kome(Kommey/Commey), Nii Amugi 1st to present. There are the Rulling Houses, Dzaase and Wulomo and the various criteria set down for selecting and installing a King. What is left is understanding and the selflessness which will counter the uglyness of greed which has reared its UGLY head into the above mentioned process. Everybody wants 'Noko fio'in exchange for his conscience which he is willing to muddle and thereby creat confusion and complicate a simple process! Nobody asks what effect is has on the general Ga populace. What is facing the Ga Traditional Council on critical analysis should not lead to the present situation exposing Gas to ridicue from other tribes. As much as I agree with the view of the Regional House of Chiefs and honestly believe that this Chief installation thing can be done by the GTC it would take the understanding, swallowing of pride and humbling of egoes to accomplish what should have been a healthy presentation, vetting and selection of legitimate heir to the Paramount Stool. I know there are royal participants who genuinely want to see a King installed but the mindset of those in the 'noko fio' category is a hinderance. Lets hope they will come to their senses and see their action/inaction as a hinderance to the welfare of Ga mei and the development of the Ga state.

My history teacher taught me, and has been confirmed in my further readings, that names of tribes or ethnic groups did not take 's' to denote quantity more than one.
Thus the plural for Ga would be the Ga. For the Ewe one could say the Ewe for the whole of the Ewe ethnic group or an Ewe for one.For Akan, the Akan for plural and an Akan for singular.

The Dagomba AND NOT the Dagombas
