If all the Black Stars players score during penalty shoot out and our goal keeper is unable to save just one ball, what will be the results?I will advise GFA to look for a better goal keeper trainer.Let them study the 1982 Black Stars who won our last trophy in Libya by penalty shoot out.The goal keep trainer,John Baker opted for Owusu Mensah ahead of Joseplh Carr the number one and the best keeper for stars then.Owusu Mensah saved one ball making it 7-6 in favour of the Stars after 1-1 draw with Libya.I think we must revisit the 82 final's video for therapy.I will not be surprised if the Ivorian watched the 1992 final's shoot out video to gain confidence. We need to do some soul searching from the 1982 squad and the final.Thank you.

Yes Ghanaians are staunch soccer supporters but they also need to be educated a bit about soccer. They have to like it or not nobody is ever guaran teed to always score when it come penalty kicks check the records almost all past and present maestros of soccer have missed one or couple of penalties.Get all the trainings out there but it can happen at any given time but with Ghanaians once you miss a penalty especially if it is the decider then you are in trouble so we have to change our mind set about that. Why has this Gyan guy been rated top scorer in the history of the BS,top African scorer in the world cup,top scorer in the Arabs,Sunderland etc.and why are coaches around the globe looking for him it is all because of his track record it is not gimmick but real out there for everybody to see.Check the records this guy never plays more than 2 or 3 matches full time without a goal. That is what we look for in a striker.Same with Ronaldo,Neymar,Messi,Drogba they don't always score in every match but they never go 1 to 3 matches without a goal and that is what we term strikers. They are not destined to score in every match but you trust that even if they go empty in a match the next one will yield something good.Just as Dede the maestro said and I quote "Even a half fit Gyan is always an asset to every team".Same way a half fit Dede just as his father the maestro is always a big asset to a ny team.Anyway I will edge our Gyan to reconsider his boycott of penalties and understand that nothing is written in stone when it comes to penalties after all he and the the other ones such as Steve Appiah,John Mensah,Paintsil,Keeper Laryea,Kwadwo Asamoah,Vorsah etc.have all already paid their dues to Ghana and really have nothing left to prove to Ghana. If you miss you miss just do not any mind to the noise outside because just as he knows better by now as a long time celebrated figure it comes in that territory. It comes with insults sometimes and praises sometimes you just shake it off.So just go ahead and reconsider but joice still remains in if it is still No so be it if Yes so be it just sort it out with your coach and his assistant to find a common ground and feel free to voice out how you felt then and the feeling now.Let them understand nothing is for sure when it comes to spot kicks.

4. Acheampong
5. Dede
Now how is it possible that Atsu, Rahman, Afful, and Badu who scored the last penalty to beat Brazil in the U-20 were not among the top 5? The answer is simple. The coach decided to use only strikers and midfielders in the top 5 for the shoot-out. He tried to protect Appiah from a Ghanaian lash-out. He did not trust Badu and the defenders after Atsu and Gyan had probably opted out already. So, he decided to use the midfield rookies of Acquah and Acheampong and this is the end of the story. So the mistake is not from Gyan but the coach's poor choice of shooters. You don't use rookies in the top 5 of a penalty shoot-out, while experienced players are sitting down and period.

No, do not force him. What should have been done on that day was to fave replaced the goal keeper (Gyan was not to have been removed. Daudu should have been brought in. We all know that he has a track record of stopping penalties. Once, when Vincent Enyama (Nigeria) was not good at penalties he was replaced with his second who did a marvelous job in a similar ocassion. When playing knock-out matches you don't replace all three slots unless you are winning beyond doubt. You give allowance for eventualities. Do not force Asamoah Gyan. But if he had been in the match and 5 penalties situation came intution and the spur of the moment may guide him and all concerned on what to do. Our Goalkeeper may never have dreamt of taking penalties but the spur of the moment demanded him and he had no option.
