When the white man wanted us to be christians in order to make us docile so that he could stealing us without us lifting a finger into killing them, they did not wait for Africans to translate the bible in to our languages, they learned the language and got their hands dirty by giving us the twi,ewhe,ga dandomba,fanti,krobo and akwapim versions of the homosexual king James version of the toilet paper called bible.

NDC is tired of how this stupid " Sefakyi " is toiling with the NDC party to do his dirty and arss kissing job. If we are serious, we can demand every region and major ethnic areas should teach in their languages. When I came to Tema in the '70s I did Ga and failed the first term but got serious with it with my own made up dictionary but today, due to laziness and lack of innovation on the part of the education ministry, we are no longer doing local languages. WE ALSO USED TO HAVE LOCAL LANGUAGE NEWS PAPERS IN GHANA.
To run a country successfully is a serious business and not a feel good thing.
We should be bold and choose one language to supersede the rest.
Twi is already making that head way without anyone forcing it on us so let it be with other regions supporting with their local languages to get the kids grounded.
English as a language can be learned in secondary school as a second language just as the Flemish of Belgium or the Dutch in Holland, all having a language in Europe spoken between few people. But they learned in their language first and take English as second language to communicate in the larger world.
WE SHOULD DO THE SAME.
Speaking english to kids at school who go home and speak mother tongue with their mothers is a failed practice no animal will do but people like you think it's sexy.
Today more Chinese speak better English than all Ghanaians put together.

The United Kingdom itself comprises other ethnic non-English speakers like the Welsh, Scotish and The Irish, but they have adopted the ENGLISH, the language of the people of England.

I wonder why Ghana cannot pick a commonly spoken and understood language amongst the many to be our national language? This tribalistic nonsense will spell our doom. If your fear is that adopting one Ghanaian language over other may kill other languages, calm your fears down, because all the other languages will STILL be SPOKEN at EVERYWHERE and TAUGHT in schools.

You have a colonized twisted mindset if you think we should rob shoulders with the "britts" as you put it by sticking with English language. Whats the sense in that if our children cannot articulate it, let alone use it for it's purpose intended? Again, who joked with you that English is synonymous with "development"?

What should be the minimum requirement when recruiting lecturers into a tertiary institution? Is it a masters degree or a PhD with a course in education??

Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.

GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.

Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults.

Most students are not stupid but the way a subject is introduced and taught to them makes a big difference.

A teacher imparts knowledge, he guides, he relaxes his students and above all understands his student's difficulties.

England is the only developed country producing school leavers who are worse at maths and reading than their grandparents, according to a damning report.
The study found 16 to 24-year-olds are among the least literate and numerate in the world, lagging behind those in countries including Estonia, Poland and the Slovak Republic.
England came 22nd out of 24 countries for the reading skills of its young people and 21st for maths, according to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
