How can a leader abandon his people when they need him most. Gyan's decision to leave his people show why he can never win African best. Yaya showed true leadership. He's indeed the best.

Osei, come one!! The decision not to take penalties was Gyan's decision!! It is obvious he had discussed this with Grant and the coaching staff. Grant left him on until the very last minute as Gyan is a player who can turn a game around at any time, however at the last minute he was subbed. He had probably told Grant he does not want to take penalties. Same with Gervhino from Cote d' Ivoire. But anyway, I agree he did not abandon his players. He just decided which fight he wants to fight and which one he does not. If he had missed, we would have been here insulting him. When he decided not to take too, some people like "say some" still want to insult him.

Osei, let me explain the last minute changes. Gyan had probably discussed with Grant that he does not want to take penalties due to what Ghanaians will do to him if he misses! We have to accept that decision by Gyan based on our (Ghanaians) previous attitude and behaviour to him after South Africa 2010.
Jordan was brought on simply to take penalties. I don't like Jordan, but after seeing his penalty against Eq. Guinea and this one against Cote d'ivoire, I have to admit he is the best penalty taker we have in the squad at the moment.
I agree with you that more experienced players should have kicked first, but it is also about confi!
My question is why were we not playing SHOTS for the penalties? If you look at Cote d'ivoire's penalties, they were all HOT SHOTS. Even the 2 which they missed, one hit the bar, and one went over. Our keeper did not make a single save because they were playing shots! For us, we were trying to place the ball. Thats why the keeper made 2 saves (and 1 went over). The keepers guess and go one way....... if you hit the ball and they go that way, the keeper will save it if there is no power in the shot!

In my own opinion, the captain demoralized the entire players by running away from his lads(the same boys a captain is to be behind them and inspire them.) Even if he had decided not to take the penalties because my Ghanaians would not spare him if he misses, he could have stayed on the pitch to give them the morales needed at that anxious moment. When David brought down Goliath, all of Goliath's soldiers ran away in a panic mode because there was no one to lead them. It would have been better if Asamoah Gyan was not fielded in today's match. I know someone will say Gervinho did the same but Ivory Coast won the penalties. If you are the one, I will tell you that, Gyan is a CAPTAIN unlike Gervinho. A captain's role is fuel injector, motivator, being able to move your anxious and fearful players to the next level to do the unthinkable. They should not be deserted, abandoned or forsaken by their own captain. At this point, I think the Black Stars need a warlike Captain or leader like Shaka Zulus of this world, to forge ahead when it appears there is no hope.
This is also a lesson to us Ghanaians who do not know how to forgive and forget. Look, keeper Barry is known to the Ivorians as the weakest link, as far as manning the post is concerned. I know if their first choice goalie was not on the injury list, he wasn't going to be given that chance. Here we are now, the stone rejected has now become the cornerstone, the hero and the savior for the Elephants. Where were Prince, and Muntari? What could their presence have made? Were we going to wail and cry blood now if these boys were totally forgiven and allowed into this team, especially in the final match of this magnitude, where keeper Barry could have been scored by Muntari even from the center circle. When are my Ghanaians going to learn from our simple mistakes which bring us more losses, more pains and continue to make us the sleeping giants of Mother Africa. May we all be comforted and minds be renew and learn to forgive and forget, so that Black Stars will have all the best players back into the team and by doing so, you and I will smile and celebrate our win in 2017, Amen-oo-oo.

Wilfred Bonny, the mega star bound for Manchester City for a whopping amount of money, missed the first penalty for Ivory Coast. There were a lot of positives for Ghana in this game. See how both our full backs made life uncomfortable for the Ivorian superstar for the whole 120 minutes. People the defeat is painful, but we should know that even though the cup was given to Ivory Coast for converting just one last kick, we are going to be ranked above them as far as this competition is concerned. We did not lose to Ivory Coast. We won four, lost one and drew one. Ivory Coast won three, and drew of their six matches. Wait till the rankings come and you will see this point. What of all the awards we scooped? This will create a big opportunity for our young guys to get lucrative contracts. Their super stars were reduced to mere passengers throughout the tornament.

---instesd of Wilfred Bonny. The guy is very lazy, with an over bloated ego. He was using brute tactics and fouling the Ghanaians all the time until he was shown the yellow card. Our lateral defenders made life very difficult for a supposed super star, with only two goals in six matches, a very bad buy for Manchester City. The problem with these Big teams is they have no eyes for up and coming stars. Except of course Sir Alex Ferguson. Astu is now rated above both Yaya Toure, Wilfred Bonny and all the Ivorian superstars.
