Accra is the national capital. Workers at the various ministries live in Accra with their families. The government of Ghana in order to achieve its objectives has been holding a series of workshops in batches, sometimes lasting for more than a month, for officials from all districts of Ghana. A disturbing trend has been noticed. All these workshops are being held in the Ashanti Regional capital.
This is disturbing for 2 reasons. Firstly because the capital is Accra the government officials have their homes in Accra and not the Ashanti Regional capital. The government therefore has been paying hotel bills for these government officials to stay in the Ashanti Regional capital throughout the duration of the workshops. If the workshops were held in Accra there would be no need for money for their accommodation. The additional expense is so enormous that it could have been used to contruct schools and clinics in many needy communities across the country.
Secondly this is leading to strained family relations as government officials are spending more and more months in a year away from their families who live in Accra.
The President, Parliament, Journalists and the political parties must ensure that all such workshops are held in Accra.

How can you build a 2-bedroom house for GHCedis 20,000 ? I hope the project is not abandoned for insufficient funding. The price seems ridiculously low, and this project has to be re-evaluated.

If you cannot afford a house, you don't buy it, you rent. Who says everybody has to own a house. And who says Government has to be the one to provide free house to any one. Stupidity at it best

Sekondi-Takoradi is the third largest city in Ghana and does not have affordable houses. The oil discovery has made rents s expensive. What does Tamale contribute to the national coffers? This is a misplaced priority and political to assure the Tamale people to vote for NDC votes. Western Region should never vote for NDC. They do not care about the region. Western Region produces more cocoa, e oil, bauxite, manganese, rubber, palm oil, gold and more foodstuffs and the region is so underdeveloped. It is about time the region come together to demand their fair share of what they produced. All the national developments are in Accra, Kumasi and now Tamale? Ridiculous!
