There is poverty and filthy environment everywhere in Ghana but most of the Ghanaian companies don't help create enabling society which could help them get healthy and educated people to employ. Instead, they always sponsor sex activities, Ms. Ghana this, Ms. Ghana that, Ms. Universe, sports, and beauty shows when in fact, they could have channeled their resources into education, organizing quizzes for the youth, training people to be enthusiastic in science, computers and training people to become good administrators and sound minded national leaders like politicians. In a nation where a common place to defecate-toilet is a problem; where there is lack of enough portable drinking water, no functioning electricity and lack of food, should sponsoring Blacks Stars be our priority? A disgraceful team whose players love money than being patriotic to winning trophies for the people of Ghana don't deserve any more 'glorifications' and until Asmoah Gyan and his gargantuan stubborn players are faced out and extinguished into oblivion, Black Stars cannot win any cup. Since 1982 (over 33-years ago), the money that Ghana government has spent on this empty barrel team could have built many schools, hospitals and companies to reduce the high unemployment rate in Ghana. And it's my fervent prayer that they don't go reach finals of the ongoing CAN 2015 competition or if they do go to finals, I will fast ad pray they don't win. May the Lord be my helper. Amen. Amen. Amen.!!!

Knowing the extreme poverty going on in Ghana now as you express, what have you or personally doing to minimize this poverty? Do you contribute anything to any NGO, or anything to your little village? What do you give back to your community to criticize who is giving? At least have some respect for these individuals who are sacrificing their lives, leaving their clubs which is making them millions of dollars to play for Ghana for nothing? Just sit back and look at what these players go through to lift the name of Ghana and compare it to your life which has little or no impact on Ghana. I mean, where do you get the audacity to tell the bank how to spend their money?

Unibank, if you don't know how o use your money, dedicate it to the various orphanage homes or use it to sponsor intelligent students who come from poor homes. Remember that it is your civil duty to help create sound society so that the youth and upcoming ones don't not go astray to become armed-robbers and killers. And remember that if they do becomes armed-robbers, it's you bankers that they will start killing you first because you have failed to use your money wisely and prudently. Shame on you all, especially your stakeholders or shareholders who sat down and took this barbaric decision.

Mike, that's what they do because they are only thinking of the profit they would get from advertisement that they would get from the team. These banks don't think about developing the human intelligence to tap them to work for them. They don't think that if the youth become criminals, they (the bankers) will die first. Are you surprise that hit men in Ghana love killing bankers than any professionals in Ghana? It serves them right.

Why can't these funds that have been promoeed to the Black Stars be used to build small clinics and train more nurses all over the country. Most of these players are extremely wealthy. I don't what goes in the minds of these players. But if the they are motivated by these bonuses in spite of their massive wealth, then they are idiots.

This is nothing but business proposal for Unibank. This amount would be back to them in not time. Even just tax deductible or write-off alone will bring the money back to the bank. Look at it this way, it is a motivation, like the article indicated, it is a "spring" to boost the players to work a little more harder to win the trophy. After it is been won, commercials alone will compensate it.
Most of you are crying about giving to the poor, when has anyone of us gone to these orphanages' camp and offered even our kelewele money to them? I mean, the surplus changes we usually use for fried eggs and bread. How many of you criticizing this brilliant idea have offered to buy just a bottle of water to an orphanage camp? Don't we eat at least three times a day? How much of the food of ours have reserved for a single child in those camps?
Why do we usually point to the little stick on one's eye when we have a whole log on ours? Isn't this same that we don't even appreciate a good thing offered to others when we can't offer even one millionth of it to these same people? Yes, these players make money, no doubt about this fact. However, have you considered that most of them were struggling to find food to eat when they were pursuing this dream? Don't these players also have families to feed? Have we considered we also had these same talents but chose to pursue a different profession? What is our problem, Ghanaians, in understanding a simply gift to others?
We are becoming like Job in the bible. He refused to go to Ninivah just because he did want the m to be saved including numerous children who were involved during this era.
This is too bad
