Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. That kind of dance does not befit any traditional king at any place where other people can see him. In our culture, it is unacceptable for any traditional ruler to weep in public. This does not mean they do not weep in private. If the Asantehene and Mahama have danced to the tune, drums of any of the Asante dances in public, I know many people, especially Asante people would have liked it. As humans, we all mistakes but Asantehene must understand his status in society and refrain from doing certain things and making certain comments. He is a political being, just like any human and has political affiliations. He should not however give room for people to suspect the party he supports. The moment he gives any such indications, he loses respect among people who are against the party he supports. That is why traditional leaders are not supposed to show openly their political affiliations. Can someone educate Asantehene on that for me?

What I think is really bad is how we insult our Chiefs these days.Our so called newly found Freedom of Expression has
has replaced RESPECT for our Chiefs and Elders.

That is why we have tradition. Will it be acceptable if we see Jakpa of Bole, Togbe of Ewes, Ga Manche of the Ga people or any other traditional leader going to disco or cursing in public?
Yaw, education does not amount to common sense. Do you even know that the late Asantehene was more educated than the present one. But, I promise you that he would never have danced to Azonto and to that particular song in public.
Anyway, the Asantehene knew what it entails to put on that mantle of office and should conform to the traditions. Will the Brits accept it if their queen dances to Michael Jackson's songs in public? I agree that traditions are not stagnant but that is not how it is changed.

There is a wise saying that "it is only when a wall is cracked, will you find scorpions and other insects entering there to live". It is unfortunate that the King of Ashanti who, by his position and stature, should be more responsible enough to be completely neutral as far as politics in Ghana is concerned. However, he has failed badly in this regards.

It would be recalled that severally, the King of Ashanti has been accused of being in bed with the N D C. The situation was more pronounced run up to the General Elections of 2012, with John Mahama as candidate. Again, it would be recalled that Ashanti King, was also accused of interfering in the Supreme Court case involving the NPP ANA NDC. and so many others.

The truth is, the King of Ashanti is fully aware of his own activities and actions, and the the Almighty God is equally aware of everything and is watching him and his cohorts with eagle eye.
The Ashanti King should remember that man, be he an ordinary person or King will tell his own story at the appropriate time. It should be clear ti him that he has been put there by some one superior than him and as such is answerable to him. .He should therefore be careful with the way and manner he goes about with his activities.

A word to the wise is enough.

Period!!!

Otumfour should be seen as an individual who has his personal and private life with social desires and that should be respected.

After all he is not God to have everything right. Everybody dance to yen tie obia so why should you think the President and Nana Ashantihene should be exceptional?
