Some of these Ghanaian lawyers I wonder how they manage to become lawyers.
Is this guy telling the world that if you arrest terrorists because of acts of vengeance you extradite them to their country even if they commit the crime in your country,if they repatriate them as he put it does that erase the fact that they were arrested by Ghanaian authorities which will not result in the so called vengeance, why he think they should be sent to Nigeria when they were arrested in Ghanaian waters,
What this so called Maritime lawyer wants the government to do is not to ever attempt to fight terrorists fighting them could result in vengeance on Ghana.
Ghana is doomed with these kind lawyers.

Corney, what are talking about here? Didn't the-said project come before the August house prior to its commencement? Also who ever told you that Ethiopia used $64m to construct 3 modern airports? I get all "Jiggy Gaga" when people just put information out there without knowing a thing about what they are reporting or just follow blindly. Now, below is the full report of what the Ethiopians used the $64m for. Read it carefully.
Ethiopia is set to expand its airport reach with construction of three AIRPORT RUNWAYS in three major regional cites, with a capacity to host big jets like B737. The Ethiopian Airports Enterprise (EAE) the state company tasked with expanding and supervising Ethiopia’s increasing airports signed a $68.5 million (1.37 billion Ethiopian Birr) with three local firms who won tenders for the construction of three AIRPORT RUNWAYS, on December 11, 2014.
The RUNWAYS which will each have 2,500 meters length and 60 meters width, are part of the government’s drive to boost trade and tourism ties across the country for its next ambitious economic goal named Growth and Transformation Plan II (GTP) set to start in end of 2015.
The most anticipated contract was the one for the southern city Hawassa, Ethiopia’s premier resort and tourism Hotspot as well as an industrial hub with a total cost $ 22.9 million. The contracting company is named Yotek Construction private Limited Company (PLC) with the supervisory form being Saba Engineering (Plc). The second contract pertains to RUNWAY construction for another southern city Robe Goba, won by Akir Construction PlC for $ 24.7 million and to be supervised by Transport Construction Design Plc.
Robe is better known for its proximity to the UNESCO listed natural wonder the Sof Omer Cave system, and for being an agricultural belt of Ethiopia.
With The third project being in the Far North of the country near the city of Shire, to be constructed by Ethiopian Roads Construction Corporation (ERCC) and supervised by Transport Construction Design Plc at a cost $ 20.9 million. The Third project hopes to utilize the mineral resources of the area especially gold which in that part of the country is heavily dominated by Artisanal mining.

He is the only one I ever heard of saying criminals should not be tried at where they commit the crime because of food and a possible terrorist attack.
These guys commit a crime in Ghana and have been arrested by Ghanaian authorities then we have a lawyer instead of talking about the crime to educate the people he is rather displaying his ignorance that they should be repatriated(extradited) when their country of origin has not requested their extradition.
He even didn't realize it is extradition not repatriation.
We have several foreigners in our jails why not release them since we are spending money to buy food for them?
Some of these radio station Ghanaian lawyers are annoying, just last week I believe, there was one who was chasing Accra Metro Chief Executive to 'arrest' confront him because he was using motorcade or siren when there is no law that says Accra mayor cannot use siren and when the law does not given power to any individual to arrest any driver using siren and also when road rage is also a crime at least in the civilized world.

We are not lawyers, but...
Why not make it a joint-but-separate trial?
All minds should agree that these individuals are reported to have broken Ghana laws. Goes to say they have as well broken Nigerian laws.
Therefore, why can't Ghana trial them for breaking Ghanaian laws. Then, only then, repatriate them to face Nigerian laws as convicts from the West African sub-region.
Recall that conviction for those offences in Ghana under their names means they not be able to travel to a lot of countries easily, even if Nigeria is unable to charge or convict them for those offenses committed in Ghana.
But, if we may ask Dr. Kofi Mbiah a question, whose duty is it to find out if the individuals "belong to syndicates?

The people were arrested in Ghana's waters not in Nigerian waters and even if they commit the crime in Nigerian waters before entering Ghana' s waters the Nigerian government will have to request their extradition and even that unless there is extradition treaty between the two countries before that may work but once the ship was arrested in Ghana they are criminals under the laws of Ghana.

The eight pirate criminals must be strongly dealt with according to the laws of our land and be given long sentence as warning to any organised criminals or terrorist groups to send a strong warning out there that Ghana is a no go area for any monstrous activities and Nigeria criminals must stay far away from Ghana.

We owe a duty under Art. 100 of the UNCLOS to cooperate to the fullest possible extent in the repression of piracy and a duty to render assistance to the rescue of persons in distress if informed of their need of assistance as stipulated by Art. 98(1)(b) which our Navy enacted on. Why then do we carry an additional burden to prosecute them when we did not arrest them through our means but after assistance have been sought. Yes! they were arrested in Ghanaian waters but do we have the adequate legal frameworks to prosecute on Piracy? We are signatories to the SUA Convention but have we enacted it into our national legislation? Do we have a jurisdictional structure to deal with such issues? the Navy did a good job and they should be highly commended but till we have have made provisions to all matters with regards to piracy , let us as a country learn to mind our own business and not do things to expose us to terrorist attacks when we have not even solved our own internal issues.
