Incumbent Chairman of the governing party Dr Kwabena Adjei has told starr news in an interview that he is being blamed by members of the National Democratic Congress, for the failures of the current Government.

“Everything the Government has done and has not done well from the energy crisis to lack of funds for GETfund scholarship to school feeding programme to poor road network to lack of potable water in certain places, all are government responsibilities, I’m not the person to be blamed, but when I go out they blame me, as if I was the minister of water resources works and housing, minister of roads, minister of energy, minister of this, they put it on me,” the two-time Chairman who is running for a third consecutive term told Ibrahim Alhassan.

The former Minister in the Rawlings Government, nonetheless conceded that the complaints of the party “mirror the general view” of Ghanaians in the country.

“…I take some of the blame because I’m the party chairman, and I can’t go out of my way to deny,” he said.

If all these factors are taken into consideration, President Mahama will have a hard time justifying a second term for himself and a third term for NDC. If NPP could maintain their unity through to the elections, their chances in 2016 will be better. Moreover, the precedent of third attempt success and two terms and change of government are also in Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP's favour. However, we do not know what the advantage of incumbency will have on the elections.

Remember Mahama has embarked on a number of projects thanks in part to late Prez. Mills which will start yielding fruits this year and the next which will in my opinion offset the slide in oil revenue and give him an incumbent bonus. Atuabo gas plant has come on production; it is saving the government a whopping $300 - $500 a year. That is huge to break even with jittering oil Price.

Personally I do NOT agree with the EIU prediction of a "close result". Although we all know that a horse can also win by her nose, what I personally can predict is that, NPP would win by a very high margin that may be unprecedented like the BUSIA WIN in 1969.

If even your DULLARD MAHAMA could turn the Economy around to gain extra 10% of the Ghanaian Voters, that would NOT be enough to save them from being trounced by the NPP.

I am sure you are among those who still believe that GHANAIANS DO HAVE SHORT MEMORIES and could easily be swayed by MONEY to join the NDC gravy train. Ansah, unless I am NOT IN GHANA!!

If you happened to resurrect the late KOJO ADDISON who taught you Propaganda at the Kwame Nkrumah School of Ideological Institute of Winneba in the Central Region to change the fortunes of this hopeless situation of NDC in the forthcoming elections, you may regret to know that Ghanaians had already made up their minds.

Come to think of it, you my also be surprised to realise that the Voters may NOT be too concerned about the Economic factors, but the calibre or the composition of the people within the government that have largely marginalised the AKAN MAJORITY.

Apart from that, they are just too inept, inexperienced, CORRUPT and UNPATRIOTIC, to say the least.

"Public resentment will be elevated by the poor performance of the economy, something that could well cost the current administration power at the 2016 elections. The 2015 budget presented on November 19th anticipated growth of just 3.9% in 2015, down from nearly 9% as recently as 2012. We think performance will be a little stronger as gas production begins, although the government is likely to find it hard to meet its ambitious targets for cutting the fiscal deficit."

No mention of any named individual winning the election.

It is worth noting that the EIC reports are based on corespondents' articles to the Economist and information from bloggers on what is happening in countries, plus their own analyses of economic figures etc. In the above report, the EIU quotes a revised growth forecast of 3.9% for the economy in 2015 which was the government's own prediction. The World Bank puts the figure at 4.5% for their own projections.

What i find interesting is that the international community and especially potential investors panic when there are stories of corruption, lack of accountability, bribery etc. and I believe Ghana has suffered in the last 6 months from speculation, some of which have not been borne out by the facts. There also appears to be an agenda to discredit the current Ghana government so that the EU and the IMF would withdraw their planned injections e.g. of the Eurobond and IMF bailout packages.

These scenarios although politically expedient for some, is very dangerous for our economy and for our development. For example, the delay in agreement on the IMF package alone has already started to impact on the stability of the Cedi which had come under a lot of pressure in 2014, partly because of poor economic performance and perhaps more importantly speculation around the 1 billion Eurobond issue, corruption and delays in implementing the IMF package.

Ghanaians need to be very careful about how we go about our business. We should be thinking and working for the country rather than focusing on doing things that will destabilise our economy in the hope that our party will have some advantages. Why has the EIU not mentioned what sort of allegiances the NPP owes its strong support from the regions that the EIU alludes to as the NPP's central Ghana heartlands?

This piece is just another desparate serial loser Akufo-Addo's false propaganda being peddled by quack organizations like the EIU without any sense of shame. It's only in Ghana where a boy can claim to have resurrected from the dead after being buried for close to a year; it's also in Ghana where a certified serial loser Akufo-Addo believes he can employ lies and deceptions peddled by his numerous false propaganda institutions to fog the vision of the Ghanaian voter.
