Mahama should use this opportunity to create jobs, jobs because that voluntary service will not last that long.

These Nkrumahists still think that Ghana in the year of our Lord, 2015, is still communist. When you have teeming millions unemployed, willing to brave the heat of the Sahara desert to go to other countries to clean the whiteman's garbage because they cannot find jobs in their country of birth, why would you not employ and pay them good money so they will stay at home?
Has the learned Dr Antwi-Danso sat down to calculate how much it costs Ghana and Ghanaians to stop whatever they are gainfully doing to go clean the streets on out of every 30 days. Let me tell you how much. It costs Ghana 1/30th of Ghana's GDP generated every month, okay. Just figure that out in dollars and cents and you will quickly stop encouraging those praising this crazy idea.

The term 'National Sanitation Day' should in the first place not to be coined at all to have a place in our society. Years back, people who lived in rural areas were with brains to organize thier communities to do communal labour in their villages to enhance their enviornment.
This cannot be done in our urban and cities where majority of these people pay taxes to the government to hire people to do the work on their behalf. If the government is using tax payers money for its unnecessary business, then coming out with this useless programme will die a premature death.
Recently in the capital city of Malaysia - Kualalumpu, some private individuals gathered themselves and raised money to pave the potholes in the cities deplorable roads. The Mayor of the City stopped these group and told them that whilst the tax payers pay their taxes which the government is aware, it is the responsibility of the government to make sure that tax payers money is used to their advantage. He assured the group that whatever bottlenecks that are making it impossible for that job to be done would be rooted out completely. Antwi Danso should speak directly to his friend Okoe Van. also a Phd holder that, residents pay their taxes and either he hires people or the people under his department hits the road and communities and do that job. We are tired of all these nonsense.
Sitting down to use your acquired degrees in deep thinking to solve pertinent issues, you are lauding a failed government of this useless agenda. No wonder, we have fools like Fiifi Kwetey boasting of their academic achievements whilst a college drop-out American Bill Gates has turned faeces into good drinking water and electricity. NOW WHERE ARE OUR SO CALLED PHD HOLDERS AND THEIR ACHIEVEMENTS TO TALK ABOUT? E&OE.

Why do we allow people to patronise us and treat us like idiots? We pay taxes and expect the govt of the day to do its bit. Govt budgets millions of dollars for Health & Hygiene, where is the money. Street cleaners should be paid and people who litter fined. In UK there are "litter police" (my words) who walk round with camera attached to their body to record culprits and use as evidence and fined them. Stop forcing and treating people like prisoners who you can order to do whatever! What is volunteerism this doctor is talking about? By the way do we know how much it cost to get this day organised and getting the big people involved? Look at all the security they carry around when they join in, how much does it cost? Decentralise ooooooooh!!!

If we had a very responsible government, the national sanitation would not be needed. This is not seen in any civilised world since the gvment has to employ for that sector.
