    Teak planting in Ghana predates independence. The forestry department undertook this exercise. It was continued by the Nkrumah regime.

    The men in charge of that project were Mr Gyekye, who later became the director of Kumasi Zoo and Mr. Mintah. I knew both men personally. They both told me there were similar projects in other parts of Ghana.
