If the government doesn't want anybody to talk about the exorbitant cost of the interchange, it should have come clean from the beginning; from the bidding process to the award of the contract.
If you have an open bidding process in which three or more companies bid for a project, and the submitted tender documents opened in front of all representatives of the contractors that took part in the process, and you award the contract to one of the companies based on best technical specifications and reasonable lower cost, the amount you award the contract will be known to even the other contractors and it will not be difficult for the government to release it.
How can we award contract to a company and the work is ongoing without knowing exactly how much we've awarded it, and we're still talking about projected figures and so on? I believe Nana is hitting the nail on the head. There is too much obscurity and lack of transparency in awarding the project, and we're afraid that Ghanaians may not be getting value for their money.

According to him, the current labour unions' strike and the series of recorded cases of corruption, coupled with the various dubious contracts being awarded by government through parliament are similar cases that can trigger an uprising.
They have developed “yentie obia” attitude as they can always have their way through their dubious deals with a backing from the majority in Parliament to suppress the suffering masses. They feel they have the majority in Parliament to pass any bill that addresses their interest than Ghanaians.
“Ghanaians are watching how a Chinese bus which cost $70,000 is being sold to us at the cost of $270,000; they are watching how one particular company has been awarded all the construction contracts at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Tamale Airport and Kasoa interchange and yet there is no transparency”, he warned.

Will people of kumasi be happy to use airport with cows on it driveway. No, people of kumasi want a safe airport and that is what the govt paid for not improvement.
Birds can put a plane down, Cows it kill everybody in the plane.
We pay for work to be done properly and save. The airport is not save if Cows and Goat can have an hour sleep on driveway.
The contractors didnt have money to finish their work because of back kicks to those we truth and believe they are there to help us.
John Mahama is not happy with kumasi airport because the plan he saw is not what was builded. A cheaper look alike. Its Kpong water is the only thing done and good from John Mahama govt and John Mahama is going to be talking it for life.

I just travelled to Ksi by plane - daytime and hazy - so the lights were not on, only saw and obviously landed on the tarmac, which is may be a mile long and 50 yards wide, so to the layman me, $29 Million seems a fantastic amount to pay! ITEM: Re-surfacing the KSI 8,000ft long, 180-200ft wide runway should not cost more than $12M, in Kumasi, Ghana, fitted with new lights and markings, to include contractor profit.
It is re-surfacing, after all!

Kumasi airport is a airstip costing an internation airport ran way price.
The plan of the airport shown to the govt is not what the contractors did. Ghanaians are paying a price of paper called building plan not the work done. One kick back 10 bags of cement to be taken from the building cost.
Those who are supposed to supervise the building dont even have the building plan of the building. Its John Mahama mess afterall he is the president.
It will be same with NPP govt if we dont have political appointment in every govt depts and public companies. No political party can change ghana for the better if political appointment are not more that govt appointments.
We can elect a good president, without employing grassroots to political position the party of govt can never make the change ghana need.
Those who take kickbacks from contractors always foolishly think they are taking money from the contractor. NO you are stealing money from ghanaians. Where will a contractor get money to finish his/her contract when he is 10% short because a minister or MPs who decided to pay the amount a project cost is taken 10% of the project money.
Contractors are out to make profit and will do anything to make profit. Why should contractors do a good job when 10% is taken out.

Further, project was to re-surface the runway, rather than build building(s).
