There are different and misleading as well as politically twisted versions of the above dispute. All these have led to the persistence of the conflict. The last version of the name-calling is: There is no land dispute between Nkonya and Alavanyo; there is only a land border dispute between Nkonya and 7 citizens of Alavanyo. This version was affirmed by the Paramount Chief of Alavanyo recently. Fair enough: These are my questions: The Nkonyas won all the six or seven suits against these seven individuals. So who are those tresspasing on the Nkonya side and shooting Nkonyas on their land inside the legal border accepted by the courts. Where is the interest of the Alavanyo Paramount Chief who has not been able to give out the names and whereabouts of the trespassers for them to be arrested? Why is the Alavanyo Paramount Chief commenting on the Grunner map that was used by the courts to determine the suits? Is he among the 7 individuals? Why did the Alavanyo Paramount Chief promise his people on his self-imposition on the stool that he will lead them to claim the land by force of arms? Let me tell you the truth about this conflict: Truly there was a land border dispute between Nkonyas and 7 Alavanyo individuals. The case went to court including appeals. The Nkonyas won all, the last one being the Court of Appeal ruling in 1975. The court upheld the Grunner map od 1913 as the true boundary between Nkoyas and the 7 Alavanyo individuals. All parties upheld this ruling until 1982 when some people from Alavanyo decided to invade Nkonyas inside the Nkonya portion of the land. Nkoyas also decided to defend themselves and not allow any trespassing; this is the source of the boundary conflict, simple and short. No other interpretation of the conflict will bring peace. The only thing that will bring peace is for whoever is going beyond the legal boundaries accepted by the courts as the Grunner map should stop. Nothing else will bring peace. Tell the Alavanyos to abide by the court rulings and stay withing the accepted boundaries and leave the Nkonyas to cultivate their crops on their land. Without this there will be no peace. If the Alavanyos say no, then the government should bring the jungle warefare school and pitch it on the legal border so the trespassers can be arrested. This is the solution. If anybody things otherwise, let him come out and face me. Thanks

I suspect you're an Nkonya,don't you think if Nkrumah or Rawlings had nationalized land in Ghana all these conflicts would have been avoided.Not to even talk about Europe look at Burkina,they export tomato & onion bcos they have enough land to hire to professional farmers to work on it.Russia used to beg for food every winter until they killed the last Czar during Russian revolution who was in total control of fertile land in that cold climate.Land is the biggest asset mankind could have that is why its always entrusted in state hand.The problem Ghana is having in agriculture & housing could have been resolved by now.
