Traditional Values are there to protect the whole of society and hence there are entrenched systems that have to be respected, otherwise, society will run into chaos! We see this often in our so-called 'civilized' world! It is funny you compare the prison sentences of Nkrumah and Amoateng! This is a very POOR comparison. In the case of Nkrumah etc. the 'crime' was because they were seeking freedom for their people. That is why, even in our modern legal jargon, there is the term 'Political Prisoner'! Amoateng committed a crime that tradition will consider as a crime and there is a basic principle in Traditional Lore: " A Criminal cannot ascend the throne". That is why our elders have this saying that" It's not all people that have children named after them"! Evil, immoral and criminal people in society do not often have children named after them. Even in the so-called civilized West, how many people have you heard naming their children Hitler? I know that with our so-called 'modern education' we might want to discard traditions and call them 'primitive' but take a bit of time to reflect on our Core African Values and you would realize that they make sense even in this our post-modern era.
