What should be the minimum requirement when recruiting lecturers into a tertiary institution? Is it a masters degree or a PhD with a course in education??

Professors in tertiary institutions must read GES directives. There are many important and useful GES directives which would help them.

GES banned all forms of corporal punishment in Educational institutions but there are reports that some tertiary institutions are still carrying out this practice. Asking students to kneel down and so on.

Lecturers in tertiary institutions must recognize the fact that students in these institution are adults.

What is this The Mask character up to?Where is the link between the teaching methods of lecturers and the KKD case.You appear to have cut and pasted what you have presented.It has appeared on several other topics in the last few weeks.Probably no one took any interest in what you originally wrote hence,its presentation severally on unrelated topics.Feeling ignored?To help you out,having a PhD would in itself,not make anyone a great lecturer. It should not necessarily,be a requirement.However,many institutions in the UK for example,would require lecturers without PhD to be working towards it as apart of their professional development.In-depth knowledge of a subject area one is teaching is great.Just like one would not expect all Supreme Court Judges to have LLD,it would be foolish to expect all lecturers to have PhD at the time they take up post.Incidentally,a PhD would not in itself make make a person a good lecturer.Have you by any chance failed and been thrown out of an institution and blaming lecturers?Just asking.Now shall we get back to the serious case of KKD?

I have huge sympathy for the victim/complainant for devastating trauma. I don't think this is just a malicious accusation of rape. However, my worry is that KKD will probably get away with this, NOT just because he's a Ghanaian celebrity, rich, well-connected and famous. But, let's look at the mechanics of this case.

KKD maintains it was a "consensual sex" with the complainant/victim[a 19 year old girl]. This 19 year old complainant/victim claims she was raped by KKD. Consensual Sex or Rape? The possibility of proof here depends on several things. Clearly, sex without enthusiastic consent is not consensual sex. It's sexual assault or rape! Rape goes beyond 'a classical rape by force.' Perhaps, she didn't co-operate or she was drugged or the perpetrator did not understand the word "No".

However, it could be very difficult to prove, get a prosecution or a conviction in the absence of both signs of violence and forensic medical evidence or even recorded evidence.

I say so because of what KKD has been saying since his arrest. I had the opportunity of sitting in the court of a senior judge as part of Access to Justice Project funded by the then Law Chancellor's Department and in partnership with the Law Society in a rape case. Interestingly, the defence Attorney was a woman. The defence's case was similar to what KKD is saying, though that happened in the man's home. That, they even had drinks and coffee after they had had sex. The prosecution called a rape expert who proved that most often, after rape the victim is shocked by the experience to the extent they try to behave normal and could even be friendly to their abuser. This is partly because they are scared or feel guilty, ashamed, or brought it on themselves, etc. They may not report the rape for hours, days or weeks because guilt and the fear that no one will believe. Then, the question of why did you go to his house or hotel room with him, as woman did it not occur to you that something of that sort could happen to you, etc? The expert evidence destroyed the defence of the accused. The prosecution's case was that even if the woman went to the man's house willingly, she did not deserve to have sex by force or coercion. Even if she initially wanted sex under the influence of alcohol or whatever once she decide not to, the man should not have said you must do it, come what may.

With such expert evidence, the man was convicted of rape. Sadly, Ghana does not rely on such such experts advice on rape cases. Of course, I am not suggesting that experts are always correct. They make mistakes but the questions that KKD and his lawyers are asking to prove his innocence are neither here no there. As I said in my comment yesterday, even in stable relationships such as marriage, there can be rape.

The problem in Ghana is that men believe that women are there for taking so men abuse their positions in society to have sex with women whenever, wherever, however they desire and that is why KKD will get away with it.

In the U.S. there are laws,they don't just take cases as reported,they investigate to determine there was a crime before they charge people so your comment here that if it were in the US he and his lawyer would have smell pepper is not true,not even near the truth.
I know it is not all allege rape cases or even allege murder cases get conviction and let me give you one example.

Some years back when Kobe Bryant was accused of raping a lady in a hotel room in Vail,Colorado after having sex with the lady and was charged with one count of rape the case was dismissed when like this case his lawyer discovered many holes in the case.
When his smart female lawyer found many holes in the case and pointed it out during the preliminary hearing and the prosecutors realized they had a weak case they quickly dropped the case.

Having spent more time with somebody who raped you drinking and watching movie together before going to police to report you were raped alone is more than enough to throw that case out in any jurisdiction in this world,no normal person will stay with somebody who raped her to have drinks and watch movie together after the rape without rushing out to report to the authorities,at least the lady I wrote about told her co-worker immediately she came out of Kobe's hotel room allegedly looking traumatized.

You are not the only one living in the US,learn more in the US before bragging about it to Ghanaians.

Some of us are sick and tired of the way some of us come here to ignorantly write about the US.

The next twist was that it was consensual BUT it was a teenager. I had images of a 14-16 year old. Again condemnations.

Then finally the girl is 19 but is about KKD's granddaughter's age. Somehow, it appears some people will not rest until they 'get KKD'.

I'm not holding brief for him. If ever he's found guilty of rape, so be it. And I hope he pays the price for that.

But the last time I checked KKD hasn't announced anywhere that he's an Ambassador For Morality. In fact, for those who know KKD, you know the ladies love him...and he loves them right back. Like the proverbial Osebo, if he's 'sitting his somewhere', and you throw yourself at him, he is unlikely to pass up the challenge.

If we should hear today that KKD is marrying a 19 year old, we'll all be oh-ing and ah-ing how romantic it is, who knows where to find love, love knows no age blah blah blah!

First, the man is 'accused' of rape. He's NOT guilty...yet.

Second, IF it is consensual as he says, he hasn't committed any crime. ( Offer, acceptance, consideration, legality, no vitiating circumstances)

Finally, if the lady is 19 years, he has not committed a criminal act NOR a moral crime!

Leave the man alone...until he's found guilty!
