Good action transforms a nation, not good message. When the people continue to hear messages without seeing any improvement in their lives, the messages become mere cacophony of sounds.

When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...

Ghana politicians can always see problems with the citizens but never themselves, mahama being the worse of them all. Citizens should buy made in Ghana, sacrifice, pay their utility bills, stop corruption, blah blah blah. Then parliament goes to import furniture from China. Government can't pay workers and but pays fraudulent judgment debts. Ghanaians citizens should be tired of these motherfucker politicians. Stop these nonsense speeches and do your job OK.

It is sad that principals of training colleges both nursing and teacher think that accomodation in the college should restrict intake. Intake should be separated from dwelling. This attitude was shed by the universities and increased population from 3000in the late 70s to now over30,000. To train 5000in 50years is a shame; ie 100 in a year with so many workers and infrastructure at Koforidua

ALLOWANCE DOES NOT MAKE A GOOD NURSE. WE TOOK A GUY WITH STROKE TO KORLE BU THIS WEEK AND THE ATTITUDE OF MOST OF THE NURSES WAS SO APPALLING. WE GOT THERE AT ABOUT 10PM AND THERE WAS NO DOCTOR IN THE CADIAC OR STROKE OR SURGICAL UNITS. THE NURSES WERE JUST SITTING DOWN AND SAYING THEY CAN'T ADMIT HIM BECAUSE THERE WAS NO DOCTOR. THEY WOULDN'T EVEN COME UP TO LOOK AT HIM. WE WERE SENT TO THE EMERGENCY BUT THEY DIDN'T BOTHER TO EVEN COME OUT TO SEE THE GUY THEY SIMPLEY SAID THERE WAS NO BED AND THAT WE SHOULD GO BACK HOME. HAVING COME FROM ASHORMAN ESTATES, JUST IMAGINE TAKING THIS MAN WITH A STROKE BACK. AFTER A LONG DELAY ONE SENIOR NURSE DECIDED TO PUT HIM IN A FREE BED. THREE DAYS LATER HE IS STILL IN THAT BED. HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE AWAITING ASSESSMENT. WHAT A MESS KORLE BU IS. NO ORGANISATION. NO CARE!

The President means well but policy concept is not realistic and smack of disincentive. It is true that nurses do not and I mean some of them do not respect clients. The canker reflects the totality of whole Ghanaian societies. Because some think they are more Ghanaians than others and that must change through education and if it will mean bringing PDCs back. For short discipline.
The should be different source of cash to do the same correction. Cut someones pay is not good policy. Now the retired midwives what will be the limit to the age because nursing is not just brain but strength sometimes how strong will an aged retired person be? Therefore, they will need another helper who will provide the strength and that fellow will have to be paid something too. The total will be more than a regular nurse will take. In the long run it will create the very leakage we call "ghost names or ghost workers" because in accounting and auditing it will be difficult to identify and quantify.
So then think about it the retired midwife never had their salary cut for any such purpose so why should the new nurses be "robbed to pay the retired." This policy amounts to robbing Peter to pay Paul. If the shortage is in rural areas be sure that retired nurses are not going to leave cities to rural areas when they need better health care themselves in urban areas and they know this fact better. The problem therefore is remuneration(pay), retention and sucession planning and a volunteer midwifery corp programme. Human resource experts will have to research this fully and give recommendations on even issues of attrition im the nursing profession a world wide problem solved only by the Phillipines very well. Nurses are trained you go abroad and you are taxed by official arrangement with the hospital abroad and part of you pay is sent to your country to augment the health sector. They are happy abroad gain other skills, give money back to natiom and family. And Phillipine nurses are in all advanced countries now as export commodities. Probably the same way the Cuban Doctors are in Ghana for. The ethical behavior have to be addressed too. And you could be fired and sanctioned if complaint is received your accredition could be withdrawn so you will mot be qualified to work overseas this way they will treat clients better, they should be sued just like doctors in the USA.

The problem is not the nurses. The problem is the Ghanaian. How many people practice the ethics of their professions? Everyone is busy looking hard for his neighbour to cheat. I wonder why people expect nurses to meet them with smiles at the health facilities when the nurses (and other people) don't get such treatment elsewhere. The country is sick of a systemic ailment. It is not just an organ of the body (Ghana) that is sick. Ghana is sick and the leaders are sicker!
