I pray that you let them vote this USELESS and CLUELESS GOVERNMENT out. Let those who these FOOLISH VOTERS envy because they are prospering as a result of which they vote foolishly so that they will be equal with them prosper even more. If you yourself had any brains in your dim head, you would not assent to any advice from a character like Quainoo who has reduced his own image to that of a bumbling goofy idiot in Ghanaian folklore. And it is even questionable whether Quainoo offered any such advice, as he claims, to Doe in the first place. If Doe did not want to run away in the middle of a war like he Quainoo eventually did by abandoning his own peace-keeping troops, I think he deserves some amount of respect for that. Of course unprincipled mentally enslaved people like you cannot understand this kind of posture.

I can also understand why simpletons like you would easily put living a life of shame above that of principle and dignity.

Doe in spite of all his shortcomings was a brave man who decided to relieve the people of Liberia from over half a century of unbelievable poverty that had been imposed on the Liberian people by a corrupt and incompetent oligarchy of slave descendants who like you, only take instructions from those who have no respect for you.

Clearly you do not know the deeper history of that country and that corner of Africa. The only thing it seems that you know about Africa and your own self is the nonsense that Europeans tell you about how inferior you and your leaders are.

If, as you say, "Arnold Quainoo did not need to put his life down for the foolishness of Doe", then what was he doing as the head of a peace-keeping mission in that troubled country? I thought soldiers take an oath to readily fight - even till death, for any cause to which they have been assigned to by their employer? Wake up man!

The fact that soldiers swear to fight does not mean that they should die FOOLISH DEATHS. After all, he swore to defend Ghana but not in any foolish fight.That is why soldiers retreat and surrender at times during wars. Call Doe a brave man but was he not crying like a baby when he was tortured to death? If you call him brave, I will say what he exhibited was"Dutch courage." He just lacked common sense and that sent him to his grave. His foolishness is what has partly created the criminal problems for the region, including Ghana. You may call Arnold a coward but he is still with his family. He saw the idiocy in the Liberian civil war and the intransigent positions factions involved have taken and realized this was not a war to die for. That makes him a sensible soldier. There were long simmering tensions between the Americo-Liberian elite who ruled the nation and indigenous Liberians who bore the brunt of the ill-advised and poorly implemented policies of the William Tolbert's administration. Doe clearly took advantage of the ill-feeling towards Tolbert to mount a coup and the rest as they say is history....so, while it is fashionable to blame Doe, it is absolutely crucial that we do not lose sight of the fact that there was an underlying hostility which was exploited by the shrewd Doe.

I will not hold brief for the descendants of the former slaves like Tolbert and his predecessors on how they treated the original people of the region but Doe's handling of the situation became the main cause of problems for the region. Factions sprang up and guns went into wrong hands of some people who could be easily brainwashed and had nothing to live for. Doe, like many military men in Africa, always want to rule once they form a junta and start a civil war. He dug his own grave because of his stupidity and refusal to heed to just common sense.

He added: “We would have thought that perhaps you may have used an occasion like this to discuss policies, programmes and solutions to all the difficulties we are facing as a nation, but no, you chose today to share your Christmas gifts with each other.”

“Ghanaians are not happy at all. This ‘bronya’ is dry. Too too dry,” he told the President, adding: “The most painful thing of all is that you don’t care.”

“NDC continue, we are watching you, Ghana is watching you, do what you want to do, we also know what we’ll come and do…make sure you’ll elect executives who will be able to steer your parties affairs when you are in opposition. Boys abr3.”

The wheelchair-bound Politicians has been called names and criticised by leaders and supporters of the NDC after his bluntness. While Majority Leader Alban Bagbin has said he believed Greenstreet was possessed by some demons, which caused him to be “so emotional”, presidential staffer Sam George wrote on his Facebook wall that: “Ivor Greenstreet apparently needs elevation to see the Better Ghana.”

However, Nkrumah said Greenstreet’s message was crafted by the CPP to capture the mood and mind of the entire country.

But on tghis occasion Gen Quainoo got up from his chair and started walking to the podium while insisting demanding he spoke. The chairman for the occasion I think was a bit weak in allowing him but I think the General was so furious that the chair wanted to avoid a scene and so allowed him to react to the comments of Prfo Aduboahen that there will be fire if not conflaguration and then the General rected by saying he was challenging Prof Aduboohen his government will make sure that there iwas not only a fire or conflaguration as ADu boohene warned but THERE WILL BE AN INFERNO if ADu boohene was threatening fire and conflaguration.

When DOE was disarmed and it was time to leave Johnson was signalled to come for Doe to transfer power to him. all these arrangement Doe was not pre-informed.when Johnson arrived and DOE was to handover to him before leaving the country he refused because he felt betrayed by ECOMOG. Then the confusion started,Johnson was armed,ECOMOG was armed but Doe and his men were not. ECOMOG did not want to be seen as fighting on behalf of DOE so they looked on and DOE and his men were either slaughtered or captured and The So Called General Took the Ghanabatt ship with it's content of all Doe's wealth and headed to Ghana leaving his ECOMOG troops behind.where are the GOLD AND DIAMONDS. were they given to the then PNDC?

I have been in Liberia for 8 years as a Peacekeeper in a civilian setting. About a week ago, a colleague of mine who has great respect for Ghanaians remarked,"Ghanaian soldiers are professional, but the only thing I had against them was that they betrayed my President". On 20 and 21 December, 2014, another colleague made similar remarks. I was hurt so bad and promised that any time I come to Ghana I would make an effort to see General Quainoo and convince him to explain his side of the story.

I doubt there was a conspiracy by ECOMOG forces or any country to kill Doe. People may attempt to blame Nigeria as being responsibly for the death of Doe to undermine Quanoo's leadership to ensure that a Nigerian becomes ECOMOG Force Commander. That was not possible, because the then President of Nigeria was a friend of Doe. In my opinion failure of intelligence contributed to the death of President Doe.

General Quainoo: You owe Ghanaians and Liberians an explanation as to how President Doe died.

Lt General Quainoo, the ECOMOG Commander in the 70sm was accused of not only masterminding the torture and death of the former Liberian president, Master Sergeant Samuel Doe, but also looting his gold,diamonds and over $5m cash.
In an attempt to distance himself from the allegations, he rather made an interesting revelation that a West African state was behind the brutal killings of Doe and some of his men. But he would not mention the name of that West African country for now, but promised to mention it in his book.
24years after the death of Master Sergeant Doe, Lt General Quainoo is yet to write his book to tell his story. I have no doubt in my mind that Lt Gen Quainoo created a problem for himself before taking the ECOMOG command appointment.
In Ghana, Quianoo went round saluting a Flt Lt, and saw nothing wrong with that. However, he got to Liberia and did not want to salute master Sergeant Samuel Doe, the de-jure head of state in Liberia. The Master Sergeant went to the ECOMOG Headquarters to demand an explanation as to why Quianoo was refusing to accord him the same respect that Quainoo had been giving to Flt Lt Jerry Rawlings. Apparently, Samuel Doe had complained bitterly about Quainoo's behaviour in his own country for some time, and stormed ECOMOG HQ with over 100 soldiers.
Indeed, Quainoo was aware that Doe was heading to his HQ with troops, and secretly alerted Johnson. Johnson convinced Quainoo to disarm Doe's men to facilitate his arrest. Why was it so easy for Quainoo to disarm over 100 soldiers following Doe, but found it difficult to disarm only 25 soldiers under Prince Johnson?
Arnold Quainoo would find it difficult to assign reasons for this culpable negligence. Nobody is accusing Quainoo for killing Doe, but Doe died because of his negligence.
Quainoo virtually gave Prince Johnson the freedom to capture Doe without a fight,and when Doe's supporters stormed the ECOMOG HQ for Quainoo's blood, he abandoned his troops as ECOMOG commander, and run to Ghana for his dear life.
By this singular action and inaction, Lt Gen. Arnold Quainoo brought the name of the GAF and the country into disrepute and disgrace.
I don't know whether he has started writing his book, and when he is going to finish for launching. may be after his death.
The so called West African country of Quainoo is only a figment of his imagination. He cannot support it with any credible evidence, and therefore must delete it from his imagination.
As for the looting of Doe's funds, the speed at which Quainoo completed his mansions as an apostle of probity and accountability lends credence to the fact that he had other sources of funding which was never investigated.
If I were in his shoes, I would not stir the hornet's nest for obvious reasons.

When the dust has settled and the true history of Ghana comes to be written everyone will know the total contributions of Rawlings and the Rawlings inspired men like General Quianoo and how much good or harm they personally did or caused to be done in their behalf to not just Ghana in particular but West Africa in general. Right now they're using lies and deception to confuse Ghanaians and West Africans but a generation will come who will have the opportunity to look at every detail without the tainted lenses of today and the myth surrounding Rawlings and his gang of murderers and robbers would be finally unravelled and broken.

Why must the sitting president flee? The plan was to assassinate Doe and install the half brother of the 'Sawyers' as head of state in that country. To do that, General Quainoo was pushed through as army commander of ECOMOG with the help of Rawlings and the Tsikatas. This was confirmed by Charles Taylor who after fleeing from US came to Ghana but was arrested n given 48hrs to leave Ghana. That was the reason why Charles Taylor refused to allow citizens of ECOMOG countries to leave the war zone until there was peace.
