The so-called professor that tried to embellish Nkrumah's economic record needs to go to School all over again. These types of socialist arguments could deceive Ghanaians in the 50s and 60s but, they cannot do so now. Nkrumah was the first leader to introduce unsustainable debt into this country by borrowing massively and unnecessarily to finance his whims and caprices. It was a misfortune that we had such a person as president immediately after the independence. He didn't lay a realistic economic foundation for sustainable development of the young nation at all, considering the amount of money that was at his disposal in those days.
Ghana had about one billion dollars in reserve when Nkrumah took over the reins of government from the colonial master. Could you imagine what the value of 1bn dollars was in the early fifties? Again, after 2years of his rule, cocoa prices at the world market rocketed and increased four-fold. But contrary to any sound economic planning, he did not reserve any fraction of the windfall for a rainy day as the Whiteman had done with only one fourth of the revenues he got from cocoa. So, what did Nkrumah do with all the revenue he got from the astronomical cocoa prices, and the big reserve he inherited that took many years to build for our financial stability and sustainable development?
The man just went on a spending spree both in Ghana and around the world, throwing his weight about and talking big. So when the cocoa prices fell close to the end of his rule, he was quick to point accusing fingers at the West, blaming them for manipulating cocoa prices to sabotage the economy of Ghana and overthrow his government. Finally, after misusing all the money mainly on useless prestigious projects, failed communist agricultural projects and whimsical mad rush industrialization projects that did not withstand the test of time, he also burdened the young nation with another billion dollars' debt before he was forced out of the country.
The truth is that, Kwame Nkrumah met a rich, confident country with stable economy, and left it nearly bankrupt in some few years as a result of gross mismanagement.

It's inconceivable that the projects mentioned by ministers of the Mahama government, could be accomplished in the next two years when the administration's rule officially comes to an end. One most important project, which will leave a lasting legacy for the administration, if accomplished, is the Railway network. Revamping the railways is very important. It's a backbone of a country's development. It will do well to alleviate road accidents in the country and loss of lives. It will facilitate bulk transportation of goods, which is likely to increase as the economy improves, and open up the country. What the government has already done and aimed to do in the foreseeable future, is a tall order which, is unlikely to be achieved during its tenure of office.

One thing I loved about Dr. Nkrumah was the developmental projects he left for Gh. I am really happy about the rate of developmental projects going on in Ghana right now and the way the projects are wide spread in every community, just mention a region and you can see a project going on, I will definitely vote for President Mahama if all these projects come to pass and established. Allegations of corruption which some people have decided to use as their "chewing stick" just makes me sick, between kuffour's government and now, there is no way anybody can say corruption is increased in these regime, its rather that its being exposed now and for me that's the difference . Political power is won not based on only the popularity of an individual oo like Nana Addo, it is also based on what the party its stand for was able to achieve when they were given the opportunity. Individuals can also be assessed fully and all the "bad" things surrounding some people who their followers want to cover at all cost can also be revealed, but clearly that will be for another time. lets all go through what president Kuffour did: Established a ministry for fisheries and railway, I will just need somebody to tell me what that ministry was able to achieve and the budget/money spent on those ministries if they can really accounted for? He established a ministry of accountability at the seat of government, I will need anybody to tell me a single minister or government appointee who was openly prosecuted in the law courts through this office. rather Mr. Kuffour clearly said he will not want to "spoil/disgrace" his government in public so all corrupt allegations were concealed and corrupt individuals were just sacked. It was this same man who came shouting about zero tolerance for corruption in his Government, but in the end said corruption has been with us since adam. And I can say on authority that Kuffour is the only president in Gh's. history who openly took bribes and "Kick backs" and this is on record, even if all presidents took bribes, you cant even clearly see around them except kuffour. Its was kuffour's time that social interventions like school feeding program, Health insurance (which many believe it was piloted prior)and transportation sector( transit buses) with the introduction of "kuffour buses. Lets all do a thorough examination of what some of these led to; School feeding program, with support from a donor country, this support was taken away after an audit by an international auditing firm due to corruption, really, like seriously!! somebody should tell me this is not true. I live around agbogba road, after some few months of the introduction of red double decker buses from Uk, they were all broken and packed on a land along the Agbogba road, anybody can testify? Yes I salute him for all these great projects initiatives, but lets be honest with ourselves who cant introduce programs? for me how these programs are planned and established is equally important as just introducing them, even president Mahama with all these projects if he does not put in place measures to ensure that they are sustained will receive bushing from me. Putting in place measures to ensure that there is no corruption in these organizations and also its sustainability is also important. Will rest my case for now. NPP will definitely be in the wilderness for a while. they are even lucky to have gotten ride of the old executives, it would have been worse. JM all the way!!

The Chief of staff Prosper Bani must be ashame himself. What have Danyi and Kpando constituencies done to NDC govts after voting massively for them. Our roads amongst other other things are bad that most people have decided not to vote or give their votes to NPP bcoz for example Wusuta and Awate township roads were done in NPP time. Eg the roads fron Vakpo to Kpando, Mr Bani hometown, Anfoega - Awate, Anfoega - Aveme to Sabadu, Vakpo - Wusuta roads so bad that when it rains cars can't ply eg Wusuta, Awate, Aveme and Sabadu roads. For God sake we are not demanding aslphat roads we know they are for Ashanti, Northing, Central and Greater-Accra and other regions. This is injustice! We are beging Volta MPs and Chiefs wake up and talk against this
