It is strange that the same government that is preaching free education in primary and second cycle institutions is taxing the tertiary education. Government efforts on education will be incomplete, when education at the tertiary level is not accessible. Suggestion; The government can amend the tax to affect income that is not reinvested into the universities for development and upgrade. This may prevent owners of the institutions from siphoning the needed cash for the development of the schools. Or a salary cap can be instituted to ensure some controls on the board of universities. Corporate tax on educational institutions is a wrong way to make education affordable.

...but no tax reduction. What if for profit companies in Ghana all demanded lower taxes? Are.you lowering your tuition fees? Foolishness

If they are for profit then the government can tax them even though the 25% rate is a bit too much in my opinion. I would call for 10% since they are providing a necessary service to the country. If they are non-profit then there should be no tax. The government can follow the example of the US State universities
