As soon as I heard this I cried with joy and said: "You can't keep a good man down! And no matter how long you oppress him, his ideas will eventually emerge and prevail." The visionaries who suggested these ideas 60 years ago were called names, persecuted and ended up in jail dead or alive. The lucky ones barely escaped with their lives to continue the fight elsewhere in exile. Today, and after all that had happened to the Danquah-Busia- Dombo Tradition, don't you think that we deserve an apology from the Nkrumah's communist tradition?

If Nana the visionary man who believes all things are possible had not tumpeted it, would Ndc and Mahama ever see it, dream it, or visualize it.
As for me, the fact that Ndc is now going for this idea which they opposed, tells me that they have no vision, they prey on other peoples' ideas, and they know no shame.
I would rather follow and vote for a visionary person to rule over me than a visionless person who knows not his destination.

So, he promised a slow and steady implementation instead of NPPs magical "One time" implementation. This NPP plan everybody knew could never work but was only a political ploy to win votes. Akuffo Addo and his NPP did not bring about this idea. it is a constitutional requirement. Mahama said it t every campaign stop and at the Organized Debates.. I personally heard it from his own mouth at Peki Institute of Education (former Peki Training College) one afternoon I was retaining to Accra during my visit home 2013 September. Education is capital investment policy every nation needs. Nkrumah started it not for votes but for development.

If you read my comment extremely well and carefully, I stated that, the realization of the free SHS policy, and giving meaning to it, after it had been in the constitution since the 4th Republic beginning 1992, was triggered by the NPP party thinking very, very seriously, vigorously, robustly and putting their brain cells to work with the vision and focus, as to how to make that policy a reality against the backdrop that the economy of the country was respectably on an even keel with revenue from oil projected to come in to further cushion the fundamentals, making the projected implementation of the policy doable, as compared to the Mahama NDC gov't which was looking at access and at the very least, 2032, two decades from 2012, for the realization of such a policy.
The NPP party triggered the intellectual analysis and discourse, that thrust the issues concerning the free SHS's into the very center of the direction in which the country needed to move, in seeking to advance our development paradigm.
The NDC party and gov't I'm afraid was two decades late on the issue of education and how to proceed with making it affordable(free), and for me that is very significant and brings to the fore, the kind of critical thinking and conceptualization of where Ghana needs to be and the needed intelligent analytical brainstorming underlying that process in the NPP party and gov't.
The free SHS's is a very good policy and needs to be competently implemented and managed because any it's failure is not an option in this 21st century, where the products of analytical and intelligent thinking undergirded by an educated and informed populace seeks to drive the advancements of the 21st century and beyond, at least in the developed world, and increasingly, in a world where natural resources per se, is not the necessary sin qua non for economic advancement, human wellbeing and development.

At the time the NPP party was engaging the intellect and brainstorming as far back as 2008, as to how to go about making such a program a reality in the NPP party's quest to address the fundamental direction of the country, based on an engaged, informed and educated populace across various strata of socio-economic standing, the NDC gov't and party, was engaging in hooliganism, lawlessness, propaganda and pure brawn to discredit visionary and intelligent engagement of the matter/muscle in the brain.
It has taken this Mahama NDC gov't and party, since 2008, almost a decade ie 7years, if this free SHS's by the Mahama NDC gov't is to be introduced in 2015, 7 good years to understand, appreciate and see the wisdom in such a policy and that is very significant, the kind of depth and focus as well as wiring of the brain in the NPP party.
It is a very good policy, which clearly shows the NPP party is way ahead of the times in the necessary actions, intelligent thinking and engagement, visionary foresight and the ability to prudently, pragmatically, consciously and intelligently appropriate the scarce resources of the nation, in a way and manner that produces the fundamental change and direction, which yields very excellent dividends over the medium to long-term which is sustainable and drives growth based on an educated citizenry.
The worry here though is, if such a program would be COMPETENTLY introduced and managed by the Mahama NDC gov't before they finally leave office in 2016? Why do we say this?
We say this because we are very much well aware of the precedence, predicated by the hurried and lack of thinking and understanding of the Single Spine Salary Structure(SSSS), which has incompetently implemented by the Mahama NDC gov't, was messed up because they could not understand it, and are now blaming it rather wrongly for the problems facing the country.
The position of the Nana Akufo Addo to the effect that, a lot of effort has gone into the planning of such a program by the NPP party, and therefore, the Mahama NDC gov't could benefit from the intelligent approach brought to bear in formulating such a policy, is most apt.
The free SHS's policy advocated by the NPP as far back as 2008, which at the time the NDC gov't was rubbishing, including John Mahama as clearly evidenced by his 60 appearances, and the then Minister of Education-Lee Ocran claiming rather strongly that, it could be done in two decades time that is in 2032, when the policy became a major public interest debate in 2012, shows that, on every metric, on every scale, the NPP party is way, way, and very far ahead of it's major competition.
Hopefully, the Mahama NDC gov't competently introduces this free SHS policy because, it's failure would be a catastrophic disaster for the country.

Why is Franklin Cudjoe not describing the hijacking of Akua Donkor's free SHS as fraudulent? After all It was Akua Donkor who started with free SHS before NPP jumped from nowhere to claim it. Mahama is purely implementing a constitutional provision. Franklin Cudjoe seems to be overwhelmed by his political affinity to NPP. He is now faced with credibility syndrome as no one takes him serious any longer.

Thanks Mr. Frank Cudjoe for laying the facts straight. This is what I'd expected Nana Akufo-Addo to mention first and foremost in his Aliu Mahama's Memorial Speech. Nana only thanked John Mahama and his NDC gov't about their attempt to implement the Free SHS Education policy that he preached about in his 2012 election campaign; he however failed to bring it to the attention Ghanaians that the NDC through lies and propaganda rubbished his ideas about the education policy. This are some of the weakness that I see in Nana's campaign.

If the NPP will only attempt to tell Ghanaians what they'd do when the win power, it's not going to yield any desired results although it's clear the NDC have been messing themselves up. The kind of politics that's practised in advanced countries like the UK, US, Germany, Japan, Switzerland or in generally in the West is way different from what is practised in Ghana or African in general. Nana and NPP should understand that not everyone in Ghana attended good schools like Achimota, Presby Secondary, St. Peters Secondary, Prempeh College etc. Our rural folks who had less or no education constitute a greater percentage (60-70%) of Ghana' population and that audience should be NPP's targeted audience. Making beautiful speeches won't get us the desired result, although it's a fact that no country can develop without proper and quality education. Nana & Co., should be real---no gimmicks about it!

Tell the whole nation---emphasize the reason why the NDC is dangerous to the nation's way forward in progress; tell the world why people should come on NPP's side and support you to win victory so Ghana, so they could see great change in their lives.

The NDC is way ahead of the NPP telling lies to our rural folks---we all have relatives who live in the rural areas like Adawso and Tinkong, near Koforidua in the Eastern Region etc. They're saying that the present economic hardship that people are experiencing was brought about by ex-Prez. Kuffour's NPP gov't which John Mahama is attempting to correct. I may sound silly, but I know what I'm talking about.

What is really wrong if Mahama chooses to start free SHS with the little resources of our nation than doing nothing about it. Whether Mahama denigrated 100 times the Free SHS or not.

I personally without hatred welcome President Mahama and his NDC's move as a great starter who stands in for the poor parents, by at least starting from somewhere and relieving many parents of their financial burden.

I see you Cudjoe as a waste to Ghana because I do not understand why you do not express joy over this wonderful move of the president of the free SHS implementation.

It is better to say NO and later do what may be seen or consider as YES than to say YES and do what be NO, which may be detrimental to the reality of fulfilling nothing.

In this context whatever you may state with the devil's mind to try to influence peoples' minds with your tribal and political hatred towards the president and his party, the NDC, will never convince the wise and the rationals of this nation to follow your wicked and evil political bigotry.

Cudjoe, are you aware that most of your writtings are based on hatred and negative political mind? I believe for the sake of the nation's development, it is time to stop projecting hatred, and work towards fostering political unity and an agenda of bringing our peoples' minds to loving one another in our political and democratic dispensation of today when the devil has bedeviled our nation with the spirit of hatred.

As for me, the fact that Ndc is now going for this idea which they opposed, tells me that they have no vision, they prey on other peoples' ideas, and they know no shame.
I would rather follow and vote for a visionary person to rule over me than a visionless person who knows not his destination.
