Strong partisanship started in Ghana when Kwame Nkrumah divided the nation into patriots and traitors. Patriots were those who accepted that he should be president for life, practice communism and one party state, and indulge in Leftist anti-Western propaganda using the small country's meager resources to challenge centuries' old, well-established countries. They even accepted that he should act as a savior of the Blackman around the world, while tyrannizing his own Black people at home because they have alternative views for the development of their country.

Those who wanted him to concentrate on the needs of the young nation and tone down his rhetoric against the powerful were called traitors, reactionaries, and agents of imperialism that should be liquidated and imprisoned dead or alive. Could you believe that the opposition members he was tyrannizing were the very people who started the struggle for our independence? They employed Nkrumah and paid for his ticket from the UK to come and work as General Secretary of the group, saving him from the tyranny of his joblessness in London. The independence struggle Vanguards were senior civil servants in the Gold Coast. And as the struggle was gaining momentum and the scope of their activities were widening, they needed someone to work full time for the group; free from official work constrains to further spread message of the struggle.

Under their responsibility and protection, Nkrumah used the platform to become the public face of the group and his popularity soared. In those days, many perceive him as the person or the only person fighting for our independence and not a spokesperson of the group. Subsequently, when he heard from the Governor General's female secretary, who was later sacked, that the British were preparing to grant us independence, and he increasingly used needless militant tactics to provoke the Whiteman in order to embarrass his bosses and outsmart them. He then used the opportunity to break away from them, forming his own party and slapping them from behind to take power.

This explains the strong partisanship in the country and why Nkrumah didn't want the Liberation Vanguards to ever come to power in his life time. Maybe, he was afraid of his own ghost. And despite all these facts, his supporters still want us to believe that he initiated, spearheaded and single handedly fought for our independence, and therefore name every national project after him as if we were in a kingdom.

Well said but, superiority can be expressed in different terms depending on what you're referring to. Despite the fact that all human beings are equal before God, wealth can draw the line to who is the superior than the other and the culture you present yourself in. If you are pepeni and ayigbe who have no respect for any law, can you raise the directive principles of state policies? Can you enlight yourself and your community? Superiority comes in if you're not capable of doing things right and you're always in the need of a "master" for that concern. The culture creates who you are and so would your mindset. If you have a negative culture you can't develop because you don't have that mind of superiority and others have to look up for you. Until "pepeni born ayigbes" understand the common use of laws, obedience to common laws and raising the mindset the superiority would be in the hands of their neighbours.

Stop spreading lies. When Nkrumah came in, your so-called Vanguards had no chapters at the grass root level after all those wasted years arranging for a hand-over on a silver platter, and majority of the masses did not understand what the heck was going on.
Nkrumah with his organizing skills picked up from Marcus Garvey in the US started organizing the rural folks and opened up hundreds of grass root chapters within couple of years of his return and also lectured them, a clever move which your so-called vanguards found offensive simply because the rural folks could not speak English which they interpreted as uneducated folks. They either did not know how to organize or just plain lazy as "educated men" or cared less if the masses remained dumb. But the moment the so-called verandah boys became enlightened by Nkrumah, the dogs were now out of the barn and Nkrumah didn't have to do a thing. So stop blaming him for hijacking. It was the masses who hijacked the cookie from the "CHOIR BOYS"
Danquah and Obetsebi-Lamptey and other European clones were promised a hand-over on a silver platter provided they did not muddy the waters of exploitation and remained "good boys" hence their objection of the masses they deemed not so sophisticated to please the eyes of their gods - the white man.
A true liberation has to involve the masses that's what saved France to become a republic, and South Africa,Angola, Zimbabwe,Namibia,Mozambique ,Kenya ect,ect.
The so-called vanguards wanted to be the out-sourced agents of colonialism as promised them.The Euro-African good school boys who were ashamed of their own people never wanted to hurt the feelings of master.

Kwame Nkrumah, who had an inordinate ambition, forgot about the people who paid his passage to then Gold Coast.

He turned his tail against them and stabbed them at their backs.

Not only that, he wanted to be President of the African Continent as a result, Kwame Nkrumah established a MILITARY TRAINING CAMP in a forest area called OBENIMASE.

The aim was to train "FREEDOM FIGHTERS", to go back to their respective countries to destabilize their respective governments.

When ALHAJI TAFAWA BALEWA, NIGERIA'S FEDERAL PRIME MINISER, WAS KILLED IN A MILITARY COUPd'TAT, Kwame Nkrumah rushed to the GHANA BROADCASRTING CORPORATION (GBC) not to console or sympathize with the people of Nigeria but to antagonize them saying "ALHAJI BALEWA DIED OF CIRCUNSTANCES HE WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND".

I am not surprised that the LUXURY STATE OWNED AMBASSADOR HOTEL has collapsed and the building bearing the name demolished.

These so-called FREEDOM FIGHTERS eat at that hotel and sign on the bill Freedom Fighter.

Nkrumah was only thinking of his ambition. Anybody obstructing his way was weeded out.

Time is not on my side to get into titles and topical indulgences of his books. I can hardly recall any titles unless I delve into my scattered library.

Meanwhile, this is the kinds of national dialogues we need to be having all the time.
