After centuries of mining in the country, what do we have to show for that? Government is advised not to mess with the forest reserves otherwise the results will not be in anyone's interest.

Do these people hate Ghana that much? What are the benefits gained by the ordinary Ghanaian after the government allowed these foreign mining companies to poison our water and food resources with arsenic compounds and mercury? It's like the slave trade period where greediness caused our leaders to sell our kith and kin the the whiteman for pittance.

It is interesting that General Acheampong made Ghana self sufficient in our own local produce, however because of our taste for foreign made milk and sardines in a tin, JJ was able to lie to the country about the hardship of not having them. The simple truth of the matter is the key mistake Acheampong made was not letting market forces dictate prices by sticking to controlled prices. Even JJ after whipping market women for a while gave up trying to control prices. The indiscipline JJ created in the country with Boakye Gyan has created this mob of greedy, selfish slavers we have in the country ruling as now. If ever there was a time for a revolution to take out this mob from the roots, it is now. Democracy is a good thing, but when it has become a choice of these NDC slavers and a somewhat ok NPP, there is not much to choose from.

That said, even if it was true!! Mining has been done under lakes and rivers in other places without destroying the natural resources!! This can easily be done and it will create jobs!!

No, we would be still leaving much to Providence to think about it as a curse. We are under a real economic siege. There seems to be a clique of avowed criminal economic marauders intent on viscerally ripping the Nation asunder.
This is what happens if People stay patient for way too long to call their Politicians to account. Many of us Ghanaians have often thought that just because someone hails from our neighborhood makes that person a caring kin.
We play naïve and allow crooks to take us for granted. This is also the danger in proclaiming a Nation as having a "Property Owning Democracy" whilst we all know that every real Democracy has property-owning as in-built attribute. That excessive emphasis on property owning was not taken lightly by those who had for long been restrained by our principled approach to wealth-building as our decent and wise forebears thought us. We always embraced and lived Capitalism even under Nkrumah's transient experimentation with Socialism. No one's right to own property legally and morally was ever taken away. Even Nkrumah's "One-man, One-car" policy in that short restrictive era was aimed at only politicians who he observed had began practicing Corruption. The ordinary hardworking entrepreneur or legal income-earner or someone who had inherited some wealth through the family and owned more than one car was not forced to get rid of the other cars. Our natural and cultural communal sharing habit did not usurp our rights to individually own property. That is not the same as Socialism that secular Politics optionally prescribes.
Meanwhile, Capitalism does not mean free-fall robbery and rampant con. It does not mean fraudulent acquisition of property and assets. It does not mean abrogation of rule-of-law to wantonly grab wealth at the expense of the Society, or even ordinary individuals. Capitalism means working hard with individual talents and expertise to legally earn the Wealth. It means Free Market with sensible constraints against criminal acquisition. Any effort, under the guise of Capitalism, to take away from the people deceptively or coercively amounts to thievery.
So, we should all be alert to the neo-colonial deceptive schemes that often have a Politician for its captain. We must not allow our Resources to be stolen right from under our noses by some who come brandishing papers that have dubious signatures on them. We should be more willing to take our Politicians, including MPs to Court for dereliction of duty, if they simply sit by to allow our Natural Assets slip out of our hands. Often such is only a sleight-of-hand dealt to us, even with the aid of the same Politicians.
Let us put our intelligence to full use for our own survival. This responsibility transcends Parties and Tribes. We must demand that our Laws work for all of us and at all times to strengthen our Institutions. We must compel our MPs to act in our Nation's ultimate interest.

If this story is true, it just might be the last straw to break the back of John Mahama's Administration.
Many of us Ghanaians have long exercised great restraint in counting off this NDC Administration. We had hoped that despite the widespread life-sucking Corruption among its Officials and Institutions, the moral few among it would, in the end, take charge of affairs to redeem the Government and the Nation out of her Economic mess. Then, here we are with this bombshell!! A bombshell that thoroughly undermines our sheer existence.
Many well-meaning, patriotic Ghanaians of all backgrounds have written, talked, discussed, cried and wailed to the Government's attention the massive, drastic and historic devastation and loss of our Forests that has led us to the importation of Wood and seized the right of most Ghanaians to free clean, delicious drinking Water to Corporate control, and thought the Government was listening and quietly planning to offer a solution to our predicament.
But this bombshell surely sounds like a diametric contrast to our expectations. This could be the tipping point of the survivability of our Tropical High Forest that our Ancestors bequeathed to us. I hate to say this. But I am at the brink of believing what I overhead someone say in passing that there are some in the Mahama Administration whose sole aim is to destroy the Forests considered by them as the natural asset on which the core members of their political partisan opposition dwell on for financial survival. I dismissed that suggestion as simply a cruel hyperbolic description of the current Administration.
However, this news has given me more to worry about the likely credibility of that suggestion. I would therefore request that the NDC Administration under Mahama immediately come out to tell us what it knows and has been doing regarding the content of the story. This could be the biggest source of disdain and uncontrollable chaos for the Government to deal with.
The Government MUST keep its predatory parasitic crooks off our Forest Reserves!! Already, some personnel of the Forestry Department have been killed in recent years by illegal lumber and mining operators with no successful apprehension and prosecution of the culprits. Those lost Ghanaian lives must not be in vain by further selling off the Forests to 'draculian' pseudo-Capitalist morons.
All patriotic Ghanaians who care for the survival and success of our Country, and would want our posterity to share in the Natural Resources our Ancestors fought and died to save for us must rise up and fight this most idiotic, criminal proposition tooth-and-nail. The Government must promptly reassure the Public that this story is not true. If it fails to do so, it should hold itself responsible for any Public disquiet in response.
All discerning patriots must join minds now to take every legal means to stop this maniacal rampage to destroy our Forests. If those who intend to do this have any conscience, they must be asking themselves where they would live to spend their ill-gotten wealth after defying commonsense and the will of the Natives to preserve our Forests.
We must galvanize our collective interests for full protection of our Forest Resources.
Enough is enough with these evil criminals-in-blazers!
Wake up, Ghana!! Protect the Kwaebibirim!! Protect the Afram Headwaters and Opro Forest Reserves!! Protect the Tain and Owabe Forest Reserves!! Protect the rest of all our Forest Reserves!!! Protect our Rivers!!! Protect our Land!!!
After centuries of mining in the country, what do we have to show for that? Government is advised not to mess with the forest reserves otherwise the results will not be in anyone's interest.
