I do not understand why some of you begrudge the Prez for appointing Dr. Sulley Gariba as a High Commissioner. What you guys do not know is, I believe strongly Dr. Sulley Gariba has rather been demoted, by his High/Secondary School buddy. Sulley and the Prez were both classmates in Ghana College/Ghana Secondary Tamale through to University of Ghana Legon. Sulley had the opportunity to go study in Canada, while the Prez went back to Legon to do a post graduate diploma in Communication Studies then went to Russia to study for his Masters.These guys have been very good friends from 1970 when they were 12. So making him a High Commissioner is nothing to write home about . No one should envy him, he deserves better.

Please tell me if the is any country in the world including Britain and the US where the Prez. appoints his enemies or rivals into positions of trust? I mentioned US and Britain because these are generally countries ignoramuses like you always refer to yet know NOTHING about. FYI The White house is filled with "Chicagoans" so was Bush's white house (Texans), all because politics in this world is generally practiced by a finely knit network of buddies/cronies/amigos who have each others back when the attain the high position of Prez. Gone were the days when Canada threw money in sinking holes in Africa in the name of economic development. Canadians are very smart now, thanks to Prime Minister Stephen Harper and his Tory government. How can a corrupt country like Ghana continue to benefit from Canada's development aid, knowing very well that aid money will end up in some corrupt official's pockets?

I am a proud Ghanaian/Canadian, and unless Mahama and his corrupt officials institute serious measures to stem out corruption and make public officials accountable, I will encourage Harper's government to stay the course and not send development aid to Ghana or any corrupt African country. I wish the European countries will follow Canada's lead - enough is enough.
