DR. BAWUMIA:-----------
“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.
He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.
“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”
“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

"The good citizen must be one who does not allow an elected Government, even if it be of his political party of choice, to take his nation for an avoidable experimentation that would affect good democratic governance and good human capital development through commission or omission or sheer incompetence. Ghana and an NDC Government have fought the menace of drug trafficking and other serious crimes before and can do so again with appropriate commitment from patriotic and visionary leadership."

Why should the price of petrol be reduced? Is it because the price of crude oil has fallen sharply? Yes,but ghanaians should know that petroleum products including petrol on sale now were imported when the price of crude oil was high on the international market. If the government decides to reduce the price of petrol now it means the the state is going to lose financially. The government can reduce petrol prices only when it has started buying crude oil at the current prices on the world market.Ghanaians have to wait for the government to start buying crude oil at the current word market prices before demanding reductions in petroleum products especially petrol and kerosene.

Anytime the price of crude oil goes up in the world marked the NPA does not wait up until what they have in stock is finished before they raise the price so I wonder how they will wait up until what they bought in the past is finished before they reduce the price,it doesn't work that way anywhere, not even in your London,if you want to defend government do it in a smart way, this one does not make sense.

Point of correction please; Brent crude is going for $71.12 as of today not $77 as reported.
If Moses Asaga and his team were considerate enough, they'll realize it makes sense to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians by reducing the ex-pump price in the country.
For me what is worrying is the fact that in one breath they talk about increasing fuel prices using Automatic Price Adjustment Formula when crude prices go up and in another breath they just tell us they won’t drop prices when international crude prices go down.
Question is does the formula only work for upward adjustment? Or has someone cleaned it from Moses Asaga’s board?
For me, it is pure wickedness on the part of the Government... it is sadist and must be condemned by all.
The argument of paying TOR debt and monies owed BDC’s is neither here nor there…so no one should even try using that excuse. It is pure falsehood being spewed for the consumption of the ordinary Ghanaian.
Until they tell us what the monies collected in the name of TOR recovery levies has been used for according to section 13 of the Debt Recovery (TOR) Fund ACT 642 of 2003 they should stop singing the TOR debt song
Again the minimum expected was prices to remain static if they were not going to reduce it but the introduction of the 17.5% tax at this time is just “crazy”
I remember the minority on June 28th 2005 (todays majority and ruling) heckling and demanding from the late Kwadwo Baah Wiredu (may his good soul rest in peace) the legal basis for increasing petroleum prices.
Yet today, we have an NPA boss (from yesterday’s minority) who can get up and hold the whole country to ransom and in fact instigate an increase in ex-pump prices when international crude prices are falling…
His Excellency must put himself in the shoes of the ordinary Ghanaian like myself and tell us if he's being fair to us.
In my short life… 1998/99 was hash, 2008/2009 was hash but this time paaaa di3 ahba? Why? Boni b3n? You want make we die?
Please … we beg you… try for us small Mr. President… we are dying

What Ghana can do is for the government to take off all the subsidies on oil and use the money for building and maintaining infrastructure that can benefit most people. Ghanaians should learn to use fuel efficiently.

Since when did N D C got to be aware that there was a debt outstanding to be repaid?. Indeed late Prof. Mills was not aware of this when he told the good people of Ghana in 2008, round up to the General Elections that, when voted for, he was going to still reduce the price of fuel drastically. At the time, fuel was sold under GHC5.00 per a gallon, while world market price for crude oil was at a record high of $140.00 per a barrel. Yet, at the same time, NPA had debt to pay.
The truth is, the N D C as a party was founded in falsehood and would certainly continue to strife in outright lies and deception.
If a gallon of fuel sold at under GHC5.00, with crude oil at $140.00, how on earth, should people pay over GHC10.00 for a gallon of fuel in name of paying debt. This is complete malicious people's ways of doing things and nothing else.
Ghanaians should now know the truth and the type of people they are dealing with. They are cheats, thieves of the highest order. Indeed they have nothing to offer Ghanaians. A word to the wise is enough.

We should also blame ourselves for the behavior of our leaders. Are these taxi drivers going to reduce their fares and prices? No they wouldn't. It has happened before and these drivers came telling us they can't decrease fares because of spare parts prices. So at the end of the day the poor Ghanaian who should benefit from the reduction wouldn't get that benefit but a windfall in the pockets of these drivers and vehicle owners. How many prices have been reduced since the value of the cedi appreciated? Traders keep giving the excuse that they have old stock so prices have remained where they were when the cedi was 4.1 to the dollar. We are our own enemies and all cheats. The typical Ghanaian business man or woman takes delight in maximizing profit by cheating his colleague. That's the behavior we see in the NPA
Oh yea keep on increasing prices of everything!!! When we are finally broke, we will lift up arms and rob u!!
