The party needs serious restructuring and reorganisation within the shortest possible time if NDC is to wrestle power from the NPP.NDC is in injury time with NPP in poll position as a result of the president refusing to crack the whip when it mattered most. The destabilization tactics to prevent the Mahama administration from governing was glare right from the day of the court petition. The president refused to act on the wise counseling of Chairman Rawlings in dealing ruthlessly with anti-government forces and non-repentant political opponents choosing to continue the same lackadaisical approach adopted by his predecessor the late Prof Mills.Incessant harassment by opponents occupying key positions in public institution can destabilize the most coolest of heads as president Mahama will now learn.I agree with Ofosu Ampofo that the NPP feel governance is their bonafide property. When some of us were thrown out of work as a direct reaction to the president's victory in 2012 we knew he was in for tough times. Some of us do not like the divisive and destructive style of politics by the likes of Alban Bagbin but it was good he was brought back as the majority leader.Any chairman's focus should be geared towards fostering unity particularly among the top gurus with experience who also have a large following in the party. There is no way a brilliant lawyer and a loyal experienced cadre like Martin Amidu be left out of this government irrespective of the President's disagreement with him.The Citizen Vigilante known for his bluntness and anti-corruption stance will always vindicate himself.I am surprise the President talks about lessons learnt in the current cocaine saga. The lesson will only come after a major embarrassment and devastating political blow to his government and the party. But did he heed to Martin Amidu's warnings?Criticism particularly constructive and genuine is part of deepening the party's internal democracy. The president historically refused to heed to the advise of Chairman Rawlings in dealing with anti-government forces particularly in our public institutions and civil organisations. The president misinterpreted that as political persecution. The result is incessant demonstrations, political agitations, labour unrest and corruption riddled malfunctioning institutions, the end product being free fall of the economy. It is not for nothing the president is prematurely aging with grey hair.Few can withstand the stress he is going through but there is no denying the fact that he shot himself in the foot. Some of us are in court with superiors because of direct political persecution by superiors who professed to be NPP functionaries.I was shell shocked when one of them told me your government is in power but i will show you we are in charge. This is in a public institution where political neutrality is rightly the mantra.Any NDC chairman should be guided by principles of probity, accountability, integrity and responsibility. That chairman must re-empower the grassroots loyalists and not impoverish them at the expense of gurus particularly those who are merely sycophants, opportunists and self-seekers.Chairman Rawlings himself talked about the president surrounded by some very bad people who are also a bad influence. One thing is certain and tat is these are the very guys who will be hiding under the comfort of their immense wealth through the sweat of the grassroots they often neglect come 2016 election campaign.Loyal revolutionaries and foot soldiers will always be there for the party be it rain or shine. But the major risk to the NDC now is apathy, indifference and possible frank defection of grassroots to the opposition on account of neglect and ill-treatment.Make no mistake the reality on the ground is that the NPP is making in rows in areas traditionally NDC strong holds particularly in the northern sector. This is because the average Ghanaian voter has become very discerning and politically mature. If people feel Nana Addo will provide jobs, ensure a descend life devoid of poverty and starvation, protect the public purse and prevent criminals and crooks from open display of opulence at the expense of the poor tax payer then you can be sure of vote swings including die hard NDC loyalists.Mugabe MPs in some parts of the north behaving like demagogues who believe in political persecution and victimization of discerning voices rather than dialogue should take a cue from this and learn from what happened to Moses Asaga and John Tia.In a nutshell any Chairman desiring power for the NDC in 2016 should begin reforms targeted at empowering the grassroots whiles fostering unity.
