You call these crooks underpaid but through stealing, they are making more than the President of Ghana.
Most of them have their own printed tickets that they issue for payments and then pocket the money. When they issue ten tickets, eight belongs to them and two to the government.
They also keep uncollected tickets and re-issue them to subsequent drivers.
When they collect a total of GHc30,000 at the end of the day, about Ghc5,000 goes to the government whilst about Ghc25,000 goes into their pockets.
But don't forget, in order to maintain posting to the tool booth, they have to share the money with their superiors. Failure to do so means one is not loyal and must be reassigned. Working at the toll booth is regarded as a privilege and must be protected.

Just put a better system in place to check the fraud in the system instead of arresting innocent people just because drivers did not take their tickets.
Why not station yourselves there if you feel the system is not working instead of going to waste time for drivers for you to check tickets in already congested roads with Tema Roundabout alone taking hours to clear, what kind of backwardness is that going to stop cars to inspect toll tickets?

The toll booth revenue never goes to the state.
Nobody can account for a dime as to how much has been accrued from the toll collections since 66.
“Abongo boys” economy is what we have been dealing with, till this very day. The state coffers are empty and the booths are not adding anything to it. The money gets lost on the way to the bank.
The toll booths must be scrapped. Nobody should be made to pay crossing at the barriers. You are only feeding the useless bastards.
How many more motorways have been built since Nkrumah?
How many cars do commute on the motorway on daily basis?
From 66 till this day, couldn’t the collected revenue have built 10 or more of such motorways?
Useless rules and regulations governed by freaks, forced down the throats of gullible Ghanaians.
You allow fools to feed on your sweat and then they will turn around and call you names.
Keep paying the stupid fees to feed the cold-hearted fat asses and they will always look down on you and laugh at your skinny legs. They love to see you starve you to death.
Funny thing is, you put them there. Thank you very much.
My one question is, what are you paying those tolls for? The motorway is beat-up and almost never maintained so why are you still paying?
Don’t be mad at me. Look at your life situation and see the predicament you are in, think first and then bring it on. NO hot pursuit to blow hot air.
Take a step back to reflect and try dissect what you just read, before you calmly come swinging like some blind drummer.

The easiest way to curb the theft at the tollbooths is to install video cameras at each booth. These Cameras are now very cheap to acquire and install. In that case, we can capture the transactions going on, and the conversations associated with them.
The Toll attendants not only pocket the tolls, but also allow family and friends to pass without paying.
If we complain about the Politicians and Directors of Institutions like GYEEDA, SADA, etc., stealing our funds, we must not fail to expose these blatant thieves at the Tollbooths, and Ports, and other lower-level duties as well. All are corruption and we must deal with them as strictly as possible.
What is even ironic is that these Tollbooth attendants might be among those gossip peddlers who widely smear all officials with corruption. Surely, corruption is pervasive in Ghana but we may still have a decent core of officials who remain innocent of corruption we tag on Officials all over.
Anyway, we all must clean our little corners before we blame those in charge of large spaces of keeping them filthy.

Clement Apaak you are a doctor because you have a PhD. You can't come out with a sensible solution but to arrest drivers with no receipts. Is it an offence for not keeping a receipt for goods and services one has purchased? The onus is with government to get things right and not the users or customers. This alleged collusions could easily be stopped if you reduce the personal inter-actions between the drivers and ticket sellers or booth attendants. You can achieve this by introducing technology. Install electronic machines and camera at the toll points. This technology should be able to recognise the type of the vehicle and relevant amount to be paid. This technology is very common on advanced economies. Due to erratic power supply the back up generators can be installed. The initial set costs may be high but the pay back period of the system would be very short for there would be no leakages.
We know the government has no penny to rub on or is nearing the position of a church mouse. So, I suggest Public and Private Initiative.

Make the tickets duplicate so that you can verify better still, this is the 21st Century, install a system which will count and record each car that crosses the toll booth. You can then verify the numbers of cars that have passed each lane and compare with money collected. Let's be innovative and not create stupid laws.

The other point is that some Ghanaians do not respect the value of money. It is an opportunity for Good NGOs to mobilise money from the extra rich and give to the poor and needy. The Government has a role to research into this phenomenon. Afterall this is what governanceis about.
