Ghana is too rotten. Why should one need to know someone before one can acquire a passport. I very much remember during the early years of Papa Jerry, getting a passport form alone was hell. You definitely had to know somebody who knew somebody at the passport office. We praise ourselves as the best in Africa but we are among the most corrupt. Perhaps only Nigeria can beat us in crime and corruption but we could be worse if we had their population.

WHAT IS NEW HERE? WE HAVE HEARD THIS NEWS OVER AND OVER. GIVE US NEW EVIDENCE OR CLOSE THE CASE AND LET'S CONCENTRATE ON SOMETHING ELSE. GHANA HAS A LOT MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES TO WORRY ABOUT.

This all seems strange. Did Amoateng travel with the said passport with a lady's picture and name in it? Then he must be a certified fool knowing he is a person of interest in Ghana.

However the passport application form had the picture of the woman.
The fact is that, after the final approval, the passport number would be written on the passport application form. After that the applicant's particulars would be written in that booklet having the same number as that on the appl. form.
That is where Amoateng's name came in: the person who was to fill in the data into the booklet simply fixed Amoateng's picture and filled in his birth info.
Frank, in Ghana most tings are possible. I know a lady who wrote her own name in her passport during Yaw Adu's era! Yes, that is Ghana.

The only lesson here is how to improve the procedure for acquiring Ghanaian Passports. Just simplify it to cut out the contractors or middle men. Why did this bird brain Amoateng need to acquire a passport for his travel home when the deporting US Govt will have secured a travel certificate for him to be able to leave the US!

What about the impersonator who calls himself a lawyer but has no law certificate and cannot mention the law school he attended. I am talking about the all die be die man who bribed delegates just to be flag bearer for the third time. He also has a history of doing drugs (ask Kwesi Pratt). What are the BNI doing about this?

This lady could have just procure the passport forms and fill it in and have it processed after she's paid the authorised fee.

Is this not an indictment on the holier than thou NPP? Where do I begin? It starts with the Ghanaian process of acquiring a legal ID which is a prerequisite to the acquisition of a voter ID. Yet those very processes are flawed and subject to tampering and falsification brought on by our culture of bribery and corruption that permeates every business or government agencies. So where do the hypocrites in the NPP get the gull to question the EC on voter ID all the way to the Supreme Court?
This Amoateng case exposes the flaws in this nation of ours to its very core. Why do we have a system that is not user/citizen friendly such that applicants must seek middle men to obtain what should be a right for all citizens? Sadly this Amoateng saga and processes took place under the Kufour administration at a time Nana Akufo-Addo was at the helm of external affairs. If this is the perfection that awaits Ghanaians under a Nana Akufo-Addo-Bawumia ticket then hold on to your shirts and skirts because the wind of change is bound to strip us bare if not completely naked.
My two cents is that Amoateng is a danger to Ghana, has disdain for the courts and has repeatedly lied. Why would he need a passport when his original passport seized by US Customs would be given to him upon release from prison along with any other lawful property taken from him at the time of his incarceration? Amoateng is an incorrigible liar who has his roots in an NPP party that has no moral value except win at all cost and get rich by any means. A hero's welcome for the likes of Amoateng goes to confirm the depravity of those in Ghana politics who see no evil with tribal and political loyalties over love for nation.

Guy, I believe they are referring to sometime 2008 and 2009 . At that time the form was not online. You claim that you filled yours "Not too long ago". So what is your argument here?
