This is more than a disgrace. Do people now see why others go on strike and demo? Now, let the praise singers say something. Let those who say that the government should not pay workers who go on strike put themselves in the shoes of these people and see how it pinches. Do you blame the opposition for this too? Who do you expect to work for 19 months without pay when X'mas is just around? If MPs are not even given their allowances, they threaten hell. Mahama has disappointed many Ghanaians. He had to be a diplomat where you can talk sweet and not a president where you have to act.

Frank this is a different issue, nobody said people should no go on strike but there is no where in the world or in the civilized world striking workers get paid while on strike,it does not matter whether the strike is legal or illegal, you just don't get paid while on strike.
If the government is not paying them that is sad and very bad and they have every right to be in the streets or even lay down their tools, you don't expect people who are not paid for even a month to perform let alone two years.
I wonder if these officials really have their brains working right looking at the way they are spraying money around but will not pay somebody for two good years, unbelievable.
We need to decentralize our pay system, that Accountant General Department is useless and outlived its usefulness,we need to get rid of it replacing it with something more civilized.

Mr. Kwesi Pratt, could you remember that Nkrumah used to incite workers to strike against the Whiteman, but outlawed strikes in his regime when living conditions were genuinely difficult for workers, and said that strikes were unpatriotic?
Could you also remember that Rawlings used to incite TUC workers to strike against Liman's government in order to over throw it fraudulently? And could you remember that he used to take 'Kenkey' to Legon to demonstrate how the size had shrunk under Liman, and we ended up in the "Rawlings's Chain" but nobody could talk? Could you further remember that Acheampong and Rawlings used the mild IMF conditions under Busia and Liman respectively as justifications for overthrowing their governments deceitfully? Could you still remember that PNDC reintroduced IMF and the World Bank with more stringent conditions after the coup without apologizing to Liman?
I don't know what the leftists are talking about, and I don't believe that NPP is behind the present wave of strikes either. As far as I know, NPP is only highlighting the failings and excesses of the government, hopping to translate them into votes for the party in the next elections. And that is, in fact, genuine and legitimate politics because the failings are true and not false. Everybody in Ghana knows that cost of living under the NDC government is unbearable, and NPP is democratically seizing the opportunity to convince the electorate not to vote for NDC in the next elections.
Frankly, I don't see anything wrong with an opposition highlighting the failings of an incapable government to wrestle power from it democratically. NDC is the cause of the strikes because of higher levels of corruption, over spending, reckless borrowing and economic mismanagement that have brought untold hardship on Ghanaians.

When will this "dumsor-dumsor" administration learn to administer a nation.
Knowing the NDC PARTY cannot possibly win the elections "create, loot, and share" Mahama is scheming continuously to rob the state; and pass on the repayment to not only living taxpayers, but yet to be born Ghanaian taxpayers as well.
This president is an embarrassment to all Ghanaian who hail from the Northern regions.
The question on the minds of Ghanaians, but not spoken in public is:
"CAN WE AGAIN TRUST A NORTHERNER TO BE COMMANDER IN CHIEF AFTER HILLA-LIMANN AND MAHAMA?"
Ghanaians now ridicule us northerners behind our backs referring to old stigmas that northerners are slaves to BOOZE, SEX, and PIG MEAT !!!
Northerners should not be made to suffer the embarrassment of its elite, but Mahama's outrageous and legendary incompetence is an indictment on all Ghanaians of the northern variety.
Mahama has proven right, the old old men whom we thought were wrong in postulating that a northerner cannot effectively rule the nation state Ghana...how sad....
All northerners need to redeem the damage Mahama has inflicted on their reputation as Ghanaians...this is a national calling..."IF THE NDC PARTY CANNOT CALL HIM TO ORDER, THEN WE NORTHERNERS MUST CALL MAHAMA TO ORDER BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE !!!"

During the NPP's 8 year rule, government workers were not paid just like today so what is the change? The change is a government willing to tackle all these past issue and have a discerning ear to correct past hindrances in development. Strike all you want, it will still happen in a CPP, NDP, NPP or NDC government till there is a permanent solution to this quagmire. NPP, please stop politicizing national issues, because it is the same country you want to come back to rule. Leave no stones unturned, but don't turn them into rubble.
