Every developed nation was built on the back of hard work and not a virtual economy as Ghanaians assume.

Either Ghanaians learn to work or bring in the foreigners who would.

And in case I forget, cut the waste in the system.

I am too uncomfortable with borrowing, seeing our past misuse of such loans and conscious of the future generations going to suffer more because of our laissez faire attitude to life in Ghana.

“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.

He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.

“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”

“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

Being in power for six years with high commodity prices including the newly found oil, and after recklessly borrowing more than 60.8% of the GDP or $27bn in six years for dubious contracts and useless "oil curse" expenses, forcing the Cedi to depreciate to about 40% of its value and the administration rushing to the IMF for a bail out, the NDC government is now propagating deceitfully that it's seeking to reduce Ghana's import bill on rice, sugar, tomatoes, among other items, by encouraging the production of those commodities locally.

Discerning Ghanaians are asking whether the NDC government thinks people believe they are realistic and serious about food production, when they have already squandered six years and have only two years to leave office. Agriculture, and food production in particular, is a priority that should have been started and developed since 2009. But unfortunately, they said they were still looking for ways to start it next year or so. We know they can cook figures to deceive Ghanaians, but they cannot cook figures to deceive the IMF. Can they?

IT IS CHEAPER FOR THE COUNTRY TO BORROW NOW THAN TO BORROW IN THE FUTURE. THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD CONTINUE BORROWING AS LONG AS CONDITIONS 1. AND 2. ARE SATISFIED.

Knowing the NDC PARTY cannot possibly win the elections; "create, loot, and share" Mahama is scheming continuously to rob the state; and pass on the repayment to not only living taxpayers, but yet to be born Ghanaian taxpayers as well.
This president is an embarrassment to all Ghanaian who hail from the Northern regions.
The question on the minds of Ghanaians, but not spoken in public is:
"CAN WE AGAIN TRUST A NORTHERNER TO BE COMMANDER IN CHIEF AFTER HILLA-LIMANN AND MAHAMA?"
Ghanaians now ridicule us northerners behind our backs referring to old stigmas that northerners are slaves to BOOZE, SEX, and PIG MEAT !!!
Northerners should not be made to suffer the embarrassment of its elite, but Mahama's outrageous and legendary incompetence is an indictment on all Ghanaians of the northern variety.

What is needed is for the government to use the monies to build local capacity. Ghana needs more geologists, geophysicists, oil engineers, IT professionals, etc. Without them, there can be no talk of indigenization.

Problem now is no donor country will give money but they will come in (if they want to set up and manage it. Unfortunately the rate of return on profitability has been hit hard and the current interest rate is pants. If I was to start something, I would be very hesitant and have to hedge my bets.
