“In the last six years, the NDC has borrowed US$27 billion. Before that, we, the NPP, borrowed a total of US$5.5 billion in eight years. Compare that to the NDC borrowing $27 billion in six years and ask yourself what they have done with all that money,” the running mate to Nana Akufo-Addo said.

He said, though a lot more money has been spent, it is a paradox of economic management that this level of excessive spending has only led to greater hardships being visited on the people.

“NDC inherited a public debt stock of GHS9.5 billion in 2009,” the former Deputy Governor of the central bank said. “Today, Ghana’s debt has gone up to GHS65.7 billion. So when I say the stakes are high I am talking about the destiny of our country, Ghana, the future of the youth.”

“The NDC has been taxing everything, including condoms and cutlasses. In terms of resources, this NDC government has had more resources than any other government. We did not have oil. Yet, Ghanaians know what we did with the limited resources we had. We spent money responsibly to create the NHIS, introduce Capitation Grant, expand access to education, we spent wisely on infrastructure and built more roads than any other government,” he said.

Someone has to pay it at long last.

Ask Nana Addo and he would tell you, he would use the oil funds to run his free education (REFERENCE ON HIS TIME ON BBC HARD TALK. FIND IT ON YOUTUBE).

It is not and will never be sustainable.

There are too many wasted human resources in Ghana and that is what the focus should be on.

If only Ghanaians had paid attention to Alan Kyeremantan's education message.
No one, Mahama or Nana Addo can implement a free educational system.

Prof Ameyaw, people like are the cause of Ghana not moving forward. When you were awarded with that PhD degree, you were charge to speak the truth and do things right to improve the human life. You threw all that out of the window and became Nana's brood rapscallions.
Your rheumy eye exactitude and constant scrutinizing with instantaneous judgment and no suggestive points makes a adenoid to me. The moment you were pronounced as Dr. Ameyaw, you were charged to always speak the truth nothing but the truth.
Why did this plan not work for you when you were the director general?. You now regurgitating this rubbish how your faded memorable scurrilous dwarf can make it work better than President Mahama led govt.
Prof.Ameyaw, lets get out off this your doubled gloomy countenance in the situation which added many roaming doubts and face facts. No party in Ghana can implement free SHS now. Its not going to be an instantaneous approach. The success of this program will come if its done within the realm of gradual process. I think it will take years for the smooth success of the program.
The system doesn't have the necessarily infrastructure which adds more roaming doubts. The success of the plan will depend enormously on the following:
1.SHS programs will need buildings.
2. The system needs to train many teachers from the Universities.
3.The duration should be four years and not three.
4.There should be accountability and transparency from the top to the bottom.
5. There should be link between various sub-regions. Meaning kinder care teachers work with the elementary schools. The elementary schools work with the middle schools. The middle school teachers will work with the SHS. While the SHS teachers constantly work with the Universities. When these sub-regions as I call them work together, the system will no longer be weak. Before any student moves to the next step he/she is equip with the knowledge to run the next race.
There is no party in Ghana now that can implement the system to work. We should not deceive ourselves guys.

Can someone tell me if he is the Professor who procured coaches into the country when there were no rail tracks? and salaries of railway workers were not only in arrears but were woefully inadequate per the acceptable minimum wage prescribed by the labor laws of the land and 670 workers of the Ghana Railways company had only 50% of their severance package paid to them. Ghana's railway problems really dates back and the Prof has to apologise to Ghanaians for all the mess he caused. What a record ! Now listen to him.

Yes I know and accept the NDC has no team of people who are capable of responding to trash while thinking on their feet even as they engage in propaganda combat with their NPP folks full of illogical and inferior intellectual capacity. It is rather comical to see the donkeys and elephants on Ghana stage at their inferior best.

But at this point it is undeniably clear that most in the NPP cannot run on their Kufour era record and they know it. Here is a Kufour era MP and Director-General of Ghana Education Service who talks more like a "kokoase abrentsie" than an average Ghanaian. Where were all the NPP smart toads during the Kufour 8 year administration and why and who prevented them from laying the foundations and or initiating some of the best practices and procedures to govern all agencies of state? They could have had a leg to stand on to poopoh the Mahama administration. This "kokoase" Ameyaw-Akumfi could not bring the school feeding program through a sustainable legislation but have the nerve of a brass monkey to talk. The school feeding program is one of the flagship programs of the NPP demigod Kufour and look where it got our children? It was not planned and or funded for the foreseeable future because it was a gimmick with temporary party benefit to the NPP. That is the type of low level political thinking that drove all activities under the Kufour era and become a political norm being practiced by another brain dead party, the NDC.
