Technology is updated every 100 seconds so if we update the system every year, I think it is in order. The incompetence at ECG has little to do with meters though but everything to do with govt policy. Let's get our policies ryt and devoid of political interests and we'll be making a headway. If you have a government making piecemeal solutions to crucial factors of the economy in the hope of winning the next election and not securing the next generation, then we need to rethink as a people.

If you just lay them off fast without the conducive atmosphere for them to better their lots, it becomes a recipe for crime. That is what our administrators don't take into consideration.

I am not an Ashanti though I have lived there before and have an Asante name too. Test everything starting from Kumasi. So, when demonstrations start from there too, accept them in good faith.

ECG introduces prepaid meters to improve efficiency in revenue collection. This is a very positive approach of systems improvement. In this way, the author of the article is totally wrong by the heading ECG to lay off workers. The objective is not to lay off workers BUT to deal with the long standing problem of revenue collection of ECG. You title the article as if staff are just going to be laid off for the sake of laying off. You should have titled your article like ECG installs prepaid meters; or ECG improves revenue collection. Let us aim to look out for the positive things and write about them instead of the usual sensationalism. The person who only reads the title without the article will be ill-informed. Please do better next time.
Ayekoo ECG. This is long overdue. Well done and ensure it is well advertised and well installed.
Thank you.

Why is it that all the bad things such as capitation, strikes and demostrations started from Kumasi and now redundancy in Ecg.

THE TITLE OF THIS ARTICLE IS MEANT TO GIVE THE GOVERNMENT A BAD NAME. AS SOMEONE RIGHTLY SAID, IT SHOULD BE A CASE OF ECG IMPROVING REVENUE COLLECTION NOT SACKING PEOPLE. SOME OF THE WORKERS WILL BE RE-DEPLOYED. I KNOW THESE METRE READERS USED TO CONIVE WITH CUSTOMERS TO CHEAT THE SYSTEM, SO IT IS GOOD THAT SMART METRES ARE BEING INTRODUCED. SOME OF THESE METRES HAVE BEEN INTRODUCED IN PARTS OF ACCRA, SO KUMASI IS NOT THE FIRST PLACE.

Just common metres you can't manufacture, the Electricity company of Ghana must import from China however you walk out feeling proud you are educated and can't do anything. The government must close down this KNUST for us to see that we can't produce scientists to solve our problems. The students are all chew-pour and therefore can't do anything.
