Being in power for six years with high commodity prices including the newly found oil, and after recklessly borrowing more than 60% of the GDP or $27bn in six years for dubious contracts and useless "oil curse" expenses, forcing the Cedi to depreciate to about 40% of its value and the administration rushing to IMF for a bail out, the NDC government is now propagating deceitfully that it is seeking to reduce Ghana's import bill on rice, sugar, tomatoes, among other items, by encouraging the production of those commodities locally.

The question Ghanaians are asking is whether the NDC government thinks the people of this country believe they are realistic and serious about food production, when they have only two years to leave office. Agriculture, and food production in particular, is a priority that should have been started and developed since 2009. But unfortunately, they said they were still looking for ways to start it next year or so. We know they can cook figures to deceive Ghanaians, but they cannot cook figures to deceive the IMF. Can they?

They know what will do the common man good but when given the opportunity, their real self surface.
Asiedu Nketia was a poor teacher when he came screaming like a dog at everything and everyone bad. Asiedu Nketia became the "darling" of NDC. Unbeknown to the nation, he was a big thief in the robe of the priest.
Asiedu Nketia is now a multi-millionaire worth over $100 million US Dollars.
When Asiedu Nketia was screaming and fuming foul, he said the same damned things Konadu Agyemang talking about. As far as I am concerned, this is the same NONSENSE J.J. Rawlings came doing and saying only to bring thieves like Asiedu Nketia to loot and make mockery of Ghana.

I just responded to denounce another comment that sought to implicate the entire Citizenry of the Volta and Northern Regions in the blatant pervasive corruption associated with the current Administration.

So, it is in order to, again, reject your implicit insults on Konadu's ethnicity for her personal faults. If you find her culpable, take her on as an individual. Or, in the case of her using her 31st December Organization as a possible cover to own the Nsawam Cannery, you could cite both entities for blame, specifying the relationship.

Asantes did not choose her to represent them in any business deal, nor has she ever been voted by Asantes to be their MP, or any ethnic representative.

Therefore, your reference to Asantes in your remark is totally uncalled for. Meanwhile, you did not have the courage to disclose your own ethnicity. Are you ashamed of it, or fearful of a backlash in retribution against it?

Leave Tribes and ethnicities out of any contention with anyone's behavior, please!

I am not defending anyone who exploits Ghana. I do not condone crimes of which Corruption is one. That canker exists among all ethnic groups in Ghana. And we must condemn all who indulge in it, regardless of their ethnicities.

All I rejected in your previous comment is your implicit reference to Konadu's ethnicity for condemnation.

Besides, the sheer use of a real name does not confirm the ethnicity of the user, let alone a pseudonym. So, "Dombo" does not necessarily confer on you whatever ethnicity you claim.

I have for long been on the neck of our corrupt Officials, no matter where they come from, or what Political Party they align with. That is the only intelligent way to confront our Corruption problem.

As soon as we encapsulate the discussion in an ethnic shell, we risk being impartial and honest to effect the necessary changes for all Ghanaians.

And if I may remind you, you could well find some bona fide Northern Citizens with names that are predominant in the Southern areas, and vice versa. That phenomenon transcends physical Geographical or Political borders. So, your argument on linking name to location is porous, at best, and untenable for our discussion.

You must also take note that a more serious concerned discerning Ghanaian does not wear invectives on his or her sleeve to throw at those who dare challenge him or her on ideas or issues.

I would simply admonish you to learn to respect others to earn their respect in return. The easiest but most wasteful contribution anyone could offer in these Media is launch unwarranted insults. Remember, all of us know how to insult. But it takes wisdom to choose decorum over insults. I do not budge under threats of insults, however.

The Ghana Industrial Holding Company held 25 subsidiary companies spread all over the 10 Regions of Ghana, in the 1960s, 70's, 80's and a part of the 1990's!.That was the greatest dream of the first President Kwame Nkrumah, who stole the idea from president Ghandi of India.. Today India is 80% industralised and self sufficient in many sectors of its economy.

But in Ghana, Your husband John Jerry Rawlings sold all the companies to his cronies, thinking the could run the Industries themselves so they share the profits!!! WRONG!!!.

The cronies could not operate the GIHOC businesses. The businesses all collapsed and died a natural death.

However, with the influence of you Mrs Agyeman Rawlings, you kept the alcohol producing GIHOC Distilleries for your best friend Shirley Ashitey, who became a Minister of Health under John Mahama.

Today, Mrs Rawlings and Shirley Ayitey are bitter enemies, It serves you right Mrs Rawlings!!!

IF Rawlings left the 25 companies of GIHOC running, Ghana would have moved on in industry and probably producing some of the vital raw materials locally in Ghana by now.

We have been hearing this cry for more opportunities all the time. Nothing gets done. And in all fairness, what are the private enterprises doing to expand employment opportunities? The Government alone cannot and should not be left to bear the hefty responsibility to create jobs for everyone. In fact, it is the private sector that has to be encouraged to create more of the jobs.

So, in that vein, may I ask how much has Konadu's 31st Women's group that she claims owns the Nsawam Cannery expanded the factory, since its acquisition, to create more jobs?

I am yet to recognize any of the divested State Businesses that has reported some significant growth both in employment, production and profits.

Whilst many of these State Companies were acquired under questionable circumstances by obscure stakeholders, they either remain unproductive, or might have been resold to other foreign entities for a lump-sum profit by the original buyers, making public tracking of their performance difficult.

There is also the possibility that a mere skeleton of such Companies now exist to be a source of continued Government subventions in subsidies that principally go to fatten the pockets of the owners but fail to change the lives of the employees and the Nation for any better.

The Public must wake up and demand for answers to pertinent questions on all these Resource-bungling situations that could be afflicting our Nation, today.
