this guy is not making any common sense. What do you mean by fair taxes? if they are to pay 21% let them pay that nothing more we should rather be happy that the sector is seeing some growth and generate the much needed employment. Our focus should be on fair salaries to this workers and government can tax them. if government collect taxes and loans, we expect basic amenities to be delivered, this has nothing to do with booming real estate market. in-fact the real estate market is just beginning in Ghana, still at it's infant stage. Starting this senseless campaign only drive investors to other African Countries and who loses.

Real Estate taxes is one promising area the government could generate funds. However due to the complex creation of tax collection system, Ghana governments tend to ignore Real Estate Property Taxes is almost entirely.

I agree, but in Ghana you have squatters who live and have destroyed these areas. Most of these prime areas have no water nor electricity. If you live with squatters who have infiltrated these area and set up tax free businesses, and trotro drivers plying through these neighborhoods why should one pay higher taxes. AMA and Lands Dept. go from door to door to collect taxes from Prime Areas, wish they will use the same process (house to house) to collect taxes throughout the country.

The government must be serious and widen the tax net by registering masons, electricians, carpenters, plumbers and all other skilled workers who works on these building. Most of them are self - employed and they don't pay any taxes to the state. Again our government must be up and doing and used taxes generated wisely and stop borrowing for projects, it must learn to live within its means that is what we want
