Ace journalist, Kwesi Pratt Junior says the clergy in the country is increasingly losing its moral right in the fight against corruption.

According to him, the conduct of some pastors makes it difficult for the citizenry to take their stance on corruption seriously.

In his view, the increasing demands on government officials by some key pastors in the country is contributing to the rise of corruption in public offices.

“The church by its own conducts encourages people to be rich because where you sit in church is determined by your status. So everybody wants to be known and you cannot blame people when they want to be acknowledged as better than the other,” the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper said on Radio Gold's Alhaji and Alhaji, Saturday.

He said the fight against corruption can be won if the society is oriented to appreciate hard work and diligence instead of the quick rise to fame and riches syndrome, which appears to be the order of the day.

Some leaders of the Catholic Church have not seen a lavish lifestyle they will not live and justify even as their parishioners scrap the bottom of the barrel to survive. Some have even abused alter boys for years while using God's house to mask their ungodly existence.
In Ghana the Catholic Church like all the other church denominations will rather keep their tax exempt status than practices true Christ-like values. When the NPP talk about a property owning society they are talking about modern day slave master relationship that is masked as free market values. What is moral about politicians looting coffers of the nation, using their connections and inside information to buy state land on the cheap to establish businesses that arei not about producing from Ghana's raw materials but the importation of finished goods from China, Dubai and other far east nations to sell at high markup prices fot unconscionable profits even as they contribute to the depletion of our foreign reserves? It is about time churches, political and educated elite in Ghana understand the direct links between a consumer nation like ours, our dependence on foreign aid, non productive factories and the value of our currency. What does the Catholic Church or other church denominations bring to Ghana in terms of foreign exchange value and how much do they think they take out of the nation?

Foreign Remittances reduced to minimum for one year; my cousin was afraid there will be civil war in Ghana and stopped sending dollars for the building project. Foreign investors were afraid too and slowed down investment in Ghana waiting to see attitude. Less Dollar inflow. We ourselves were glued to TV with bated breath waiting and praying the country will not be destroyed by Akuffo Addo and Bawumia thugs when the truth is finally served on them. No work at home, No dollars from abroad while Kessben and co were busily laundering the little internal dollars outside the country. These are the little dollars that support the cedi as we struggled along yearly, and they stopped flowing. That was 2013.

The severe negative results began showing from the beginning of 2014 through the middle till now. We were reaping what Bawumia and Akuffo addo sowed at the Supreme court in 2013 in in 2014. I think the economists like Bawumia are too dumb to see the immediate impact of what dumb persons (academically, I mean) like Akuffo Addo and Jake Obetsebi have initiated on this country. Probably these text book economists are waiting for some whiteman consultant to come and write it in a textbook somewhere to go and read at Havard before they start singing it to tear our ears; long after the harm will be been done.

Of course we had dumsor, rising petrol (crud) prices, lowering cocoa and gold prices, and corruption also.

But folks, I have been in Ghana for more than 50 years and I know we have always had "dumsor, rising petrol (crud) prices, lowering cocoa and gold prices, and corruption" with us.

But what we never had is an almost ONE full Year of NO WORK, RESTRICTED DOLLAR INFLOW and anti-Nation money laundering by unpatriotic and sour election loosing Ghanaians aimed at pulling this nation to its knees to cause disaffection for a non - assuming northerner president.

As a nation we have overcome the court petition storm and the tempestous post-petition-trauma has almost died down. The economy is almost stable and will soon start getting up in response to some of the efforts being made to turn it around.

These comments by the cassocked-church-collection dependents are only the dying signs of a delayed response to what will have been.

Do you remember that Bawumia and Otabil lectures in the middle of this year predicted a sinking cedi and that the US dollar will hit GHC10 in November-December this year? That should have been happening about now; then the Catholic Bishops' choreographed statement will have made sense and most impact coming on the heels of AFAG corruption demo and occupy Ghana corruption Lecture of last week in Accra. Note that Otabil was on hand at the recent lecture to call on Mahama to start dealing with corruption from himself and his cabinet without mentioning any corrupt acts of Mahama and his cabinet.

Ghanaians are glorifying "SUFFERING" and are happy when they see a fellow suffering. In the long run they are all affected by the suffering of the country. No thought of providing for the future generation. Instead the present generation is borrowing from the future generation to create more suffering for the future generation. Selling the future generation to slavery. Freedom and Justice means self dependency and fairness in all areas of life. Since independence the country has not put in place any structure to create fairness. I can live in Ghana for as long as I like without any ID. I don't need the bank, everything is cash. I don't need the government because I am not required to file tax returns. I can have as many spouses as I can and produce as many children without taking care of them because there are no records to track irresponsible parents and make them pay for children upbringing. When Families are highly dysfunctional, societies are dysfunctional and for that matter, the whole country become dysfunctional. if "Religion" takes over spirituality the law of cause and effect is not recognized, therefore corruption will be fully recognized. Why? Oneness as unity is out of the equation. "Opposites" creates corruption because one has to fill the war chest for the next election. Remember unhealthy competition is more deadly than healthy competition; enemies are created and personalized. Issues and God given solutions are out of the way. Persons are attacked not issues. Don't appreciate suffering and call for NGO's to come to your aid. Remove poverty (HIPC) mentality from the society. Start the corruption eradication from the minds of the people and then realize it physically. fellow brothers and sisters let's give Ghanaians the solutions we have instead of insults. I am done!!!

3. where is the confidence to invest when there is zero accountability

Have all these Bishops really living in Ghana? Or their eyes were closed in prayers so they could not see the real Ghana since the overthrow of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah? I think they might be in their trounces faking the Holy Spirit, luring and defrauding their congregation of money and their possessions and making themselves rich and property grabbing men of God. What a revelation!! Thank our maker, these men of God have awoken from their sleep and can now see that Ghana's economy has become ''buy and sell''. It is better and more productive to go ''buy and sell'' than giving our money to fake and money greedy and false priests.
