O Lord I pray for Mother Ghana, that you reduce the number of FOOLISH VOTERS in 2016. Father the small number that will be left, wash their faces with sea sand so that they would be able to see the predicament they have put Ghana in through their foolish action, and change for the better. I pray that you let them vote this USELESS and CLUELESS GOVERNMENT out. Let those who these FOOLISH VOTERS envy because they are prospering as a result of which they vote foolishly so that they will be equal with them prosper even more. Father let those who are sympathetic to these USELESS VOTERS stop giving them money when they come begging, so that they will realize 'Ghana is hard', and vote wisely this time round. Lord, there are too many office to office beggars in Ghana, that is a sign of poverty, kick those who encourage this out of office. Merciful Father, too many FOOLISH VOTERS who have no sense of dignity are rewarded with trips to soccer matches only to go and sleep on the floor in foreign land, and eventually seek asylum, stamp that disgraceful spirit out of Ghana. Lord, you have blessed us with everything that can make us rich, but you seemed to have forgotten to protect mother Ghana from greedy politicians and thieves; we call on you to rise and let these nation wreakers scatter in 2016. Amen

We are under economic shackles all because of NDC incompetent and corrupt government. We had eight years of NPP government and times were certainly better for us than we have found ourselves in under the six years of GYEEDA,SUBAH,SADA,NSS and least of all Woyome stealling from us a whopping fifty one million.
The NDC and its head corruptible Mahama must give way to the NPP.
At least if I am poor but the sacrifice is giving all children in Ghana some free education then my sacrifice is worth it.
We have nothing to call home and tell mama about in the sad state of Ghana economy. Give us a break Mr.Mahama and your incompetent NDC.

When NPP LOOTED, When Kufour shared kickback at the castle, the seat of Government, when state lands were being grabbed left right and center, when NPP MPs were collecting $5,000 bribes to sell Ghana telecom, OTABIL was mute, that was not corruption to him. When Mahama is even prosecuting his own NDC people in court for corruption allegations, that for Otabil is not fighting corruption. Kufour's way of looting and plundering and turning into Adam is apparently what fighting corruption is to Otabil and his NPP allies

I WROTE THIS COMMENT ABOUT VERY STUPID PEOPLE LIKE YOU LAST SUNDAY WHEN MR. EMILE SHOTS ASKED GHANAIANS TO NAME AND SHAME CORRUPT LEADERS. READ THE FOLLOWING:
How different is that going to be with political party followers (those I call FOOLISH FOLLOWERS) strongly stepping in to cover these criminals hiding behind political parties? Wisdom has eluded most Ghanaians to the extent that when a criminal in politics is caught red handed in a crime, REFFERENCE IS MADE TO A SIMILAR CRIME THAT HAS GONE UNPUNISHED (when your party was in power, you did even worse) to justify the present one. This is how far we have lost our conscience. How about those who have nothing to do with any political party, what do you tell them to justify your crime. Until something is done about our constitution to give a little more autonomy to law enforcing agencies to operate without fear of reprisal from the executive branch of government, we will not be able to change much. To see a police man being ordered by the AMA Boss on the street to arrest a driver for tooting his horn, really makes a mockery of law enforcement in Ghana. If those in uniform understand the law properly, they can use their discretion in situations like these. Do you think such a policeman can arrest this AMA boss if he finds himself on the wrong side of the law? Who determines that 'the big man' has broken the law and must be arrested at once? With poverty, unemployment and deliberate attempt by politicians to DIVIDE GHANIANS ON TRIBAL LINES, it will only get worse until these are addressed. I rest my case.

Thank you very much Mr. Close Observer. A friend of mine and I have been saying this for years that as long as both NDC and NPP keep reminding us of each others unpunished crime which they use to justify their current crime. Then of course Ghana is not ready to move forward.
Another example is John Mahama's insatiate travelling at the least opportunity. But when you talk about it the NDC fanatics will tell you "Ah but ex-president Kufour also did it."
Well, when president Kufour did we complained bitterly and we expect that no other president will repeat the same mistake but you can not tell that to any NDC idiot.

He may be a quack pastor, but he certainly has a right as a Ghanaian to call for action by the President against corruption within government. Mahama's administration is not the only corrupt administration that has been in office in Ghana, but it's currently the administration running the affairs of the State, and citizens can only call on the sitting President to show by action that his administration is tackling corruption within government. Even Convicted thieves have a right to accuse others when those others are known to be engaged in thievery. This a government for all, the good, the bad, and the ugly; and they all have a right to ask their government to take certain actions when they believe their government is not acting or doing enough to fight corruption.

In a nation as corrupt as Ghana, the fight agaionst corruption must indeed start at the presidency. The President cannot just make pronouncements about being against corruption, but walk the talk. Immediate action must be taken against corrupt Ministers and government officials. The President should ask the Attorney General's office why it's so lakadaisical about prosecuting corrupt Ministers and government officials. The example must be set from the top going down. Mere talk by the President means nothing without bold steps to convince Ghanaians that their government in really doing something concrete to stem the tide of corruption. The govenrment's fight against corruption is weak, to say the least. Granted corruption has been endermic within the various adminstrations, that still is no excuse to not act honestly and swiftly to fight this cancer that is plaguing not only the government by Ghanaian society at large. Bishop Otabil is right on this matter.

I believe I stated in my comment that corruption has been endemic in all previous adminsitrations, Kufuor's incluuded. Have you read whwere I am defending Kufuor's administration as not being corrupt? Mahama may be doing his best, but that does not necessarily mean that his best is good enough. I have condemned Kufuor's adminsitration for the very things that you state in comment, but we're dealing with the current administration. I've even stated in many comments on this site that Mahama is a better fit for Ghana, because between the two evils of Mahama and the NDC versus Akufo-Addo and the NPP, Mahama is a better fit for Ghana because I have no confidence that Akufo-addo will do anything meaningful for the country other engage in retribution against his perceived enemies. Yes, I too, like you, was apppalled by the looting in Kufuor's administration, and I condemned it then and still do. You can call Otabil a hypocrite for not speaking out against corruption during the Kufuor administration when corruption also existed openly, and you'll be right, but that still does not take away his right to speak out against corruption now. No one is asking that Mahama alone fight corruption, but the fight against corruption in government has to begin from the top, and that's the Presidency.

In the view of Pastor Otabil, the Head Pastor, "the fight against corruption will be much easier if Ghanaians see that the President is Able to Punish people in his Cabinet who are involved in Corrupt activities". I beg to differ completely !.
Nice suggestion but, I do not agree with the Head Pastor, because the President could only fire/sack the person.
In my opinion,it is not the President who has to punish. It's the Institutional Structures which should work/act automatically if and when officials commit proven economic and financial Crimes or Corrupt. That is the main reason why corruption is not punished. Because everyone is looking up to the President to give instructions. That's not right, and how it fits/goes,if there is a well laid-down administrative Structures in place, punishment is automatically administered. The President do not necessarily come into that at all !. So the reason why Corruption in general is not punished is that, the Country has not well Structured Institutions, and not the fault of President-Mahama or whoever is the president, not to punish Corruption.
Again, the Police Administration do not do it's job /work based on Stories in the Media or Newspaper account.
I expected someone like Dr Otabil to know better.Anyway.

The President is the person who appoints Ministers and Deputy Ministers to head these various agencies. The president has regular meetings with his cabinet. The President does not live in spce but on terra firma like all Ghanaians, and is privy to the goings on in the country and within government. The President therefore has an obligation to demand that his appointees ensure that their various agencies doing whatever is necessary to avoid or fight corruption within their respective agencies. The president also can demand that the various government agencies maintain an open government, for secrecy often leads to corrupt activities by the even the so-called good folks. It's not so much about ensuting that corrupt officials are punished, foer that's a task left to the Attorney General and the Police to refer matters for prosecution and the for the Court's to determine punishment if those prosecuted are found guilty. The President, however, can fire political appointees known to be engaged in corruption, something that the public will certainly appreciate.

If we have to wait on the President to give instructions before the organs of gov't becomes active, then I have no idea, what kind of Democracy we practice.
Democracy is not only tolerance for opposing view.Democracy is Freedom,
Liberty, and Justice to all.Under Justice is the Rule of Law.So if we have a well laid Structures,Corruption is swiftly taken care of or punished, if proven.
So the System which is supposed to work automatically,is made to operate like Soldiers on Parade (excuse me) awaiting for instructions from the Commander, before they could turn.
In this case the President.

Pastor Otabil it is good telling Mahama to fight corruption within his governrment first but what have you done about your church members who steal state monies and give them to you as tithes and offerings. Why can't you openly tell them to stop giving you stolen state monies as tithes and offerings? You can help Mahama fight corruption by telling your church members to refrain from the corrupt practices which are drawing the nation back.

You are really out to lunch, aren't you?
Yeah... while we all think that Otabil is a 'nobody', he's still a Ghanaian and has the democratic right, not to mention his birthright as a citizen to speak his mind on all the ills ailing Ghana. If he believes corruption has to be tackled by the leader of the nation, that's his rights and he doesn't have to be muzzled by little-minded political foot soldiers like you.
Just like the proverbial ostrich, you can bury your head in the sand like nothing is happening in Ghana and that everything is good in Ghana.
That's your perception of things/situation in Ghana but remember that there are other Ghanaians with bigger and well-functioning brains who know things are not going well in Ghana and the one who has the ultimate responsibility to put things right is the president. So if he seems not to know his job, then someone has to call him out on it.
So stop being a 'bird brain' and think a little bit outside the box or at least, allow other people with better brain power than yours do it. OK?
Have a good day!!!

A lot of the NDC appointees will end up in jail, looking at the trend and magnitude of corruption within the ruling government. And when the time comes, they should not talk about witch hunting.
Probity and accountability would be scrupulously pursued, and those found culpable, would go for further training at Nsawam prisons. And this time round, Ghanaians will never entertain any presidential pardon. And this time round all financial losses would be recouped in full before the looters gain their freedom.

A thief who stole a laptop was chased by people. When he run for sometime and got tired he turned towards those in pursue of him point his index finger at them and shout arrest the thief. That is what Dr. Mensah Otabil did yesterday.
We live in an inverse society in which rather the wrong is gratifies and the right condemned. When the state in its wisdom supply free water to her citizens and a priest of the Abraham religion tell members of his congregation that there is no free meal anywhere and that that free water must be taken away from them by the state what is more corrupt than that. Dr. Mensah Otabil is a person who sell eduction to members of his party. He even went to the extend of telling the whole world that education can not be free. Ghana's 1992 Constitution said that education must be made free. Mensah Otabil did not organize the members of his church and school to demand that right, rather he told them that that right can not be given to them. Mensah Otabil who does not want Ghanaians access to what the constitution grant them and a government that said that that must be progressive which of the two parties is corrupt.
Religion is for the gullible, thus we shall see people who are affected negatively by Mensah Otabil setting up a university and collecting fees, high fees still clapping from him to continue to goof and make them gullible.
Let us also tell the masses when IMANI takes money from foreign countries and undermine Ghana is it not also corruption. IMANI is being founded by Denmark and Holland to subvert this country.
