When DCEs are chosen along ethnic lines this is what happens. The former DCE, Joseph Nyofam Nikab was opposed because he is a Bassare from Kpandai in the North and not one of the three tribes mentioned here, Adele Achode, and Ntrubo who have been at each other's necks since 1960s and beyond. The President was forced to replace Nikab mainly because of the DCE was seen as a "stranger" in Nkwanta. Right from the onset up to his confirmation, the former DCE was opposed even on the grounds that he did not speak the language of any of these three ethnic groups. Against the former DCE they were united, they had a common enemy. Now that one of their own had been made the DCE, see what has happened. The chief is saying the police should balance the equation by arresting people from the other two tribes. What kind of logic is this? Until DCEs are elected like MPs this ethnic card would continue to be played. The former DCE, Joseph Nikab had served in the District as a tutor of the Nkwanta Senior Schoool for over 20 years at a time their own sons were seeking greener pastures in other regions. Was that not enough commitment to be made a DCE? I am at pains to understand why the noble concept of decentralization has been turned into "Ethnic cleansing". Until our chiefs learn to accept Government appointees in their areas based on their competence rather than their ethnicity, these rivalries and insecurity would continue. Yesterday the Hon Regional Minister rushed to tell the press that the late DCE was not involved in any land dispute. So what is this chief telling us? How can the police investigate this murder objectively? Please, NPP and NDC, just allow DCEs to be voted for as MPs to end all these problems. After elections, chiefs take the lead in deciding who becomes a DCE or a Regional Minister, even when the said chiefs never voted for the President. What kind of country is this? Mixing everything with chieftaincy and ethnicity. Why? Why? Why?

I advice that all Metropolitan, Municipal and Distrct Chief Exectives (MMDCEs) should in the wake of time report any form of threats they receive to the Appropriate Security Agency (Ghana Police) even if they report to their traditional leaders. Crime is on the rise and gruesome murders cannot be exempted. I will thus plead with the Security Agencies to Intensify their Security Measures not forgeting protection for our Honourable Assembly Men.

Is it the winner do not take all they will kill appointed members of your party so that next time when you win power you appoint them to position so that you will be deserted by your party members. I am yet to see a priest from the Etroxovi shrine preaching in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Kaneshie. Why is this country full of dishonest intellectuals. Arrest Kennedy Agyapong also before he kills someone.
