We have rice in Ghana. Why don't we eat local rice and locale staple than expecting the government to import rice to the tune of USD.1 billion. That money could have built factory's for the stupid graduate to get job. I can think why we are so stupid, that's why we continue to be foolish to others and they take that chance to bully black Africans.

If you have ever studied economics, granted you haven't, you will understand laissez faire....... before you make stupid comments, try and read a bit about international trade before you spew your garbage. The importers pay a crucial role, in sustaining the Ghanaian economy. The only thing the govt can do to help the farmers stay competitive is to give the farmers subsidies.

Stop thinking RICH overnight at the expense of hard-working Ghanaians; stay competitive and stop complaining. The attitude here is comparable to
asking the leadership to subsidize rice production; it's money which could see the prize of PETROL inched-up!

There must not be a senseless pursuit of outright ban on import of rice. The emphasis must be building and augmenting capacity locally. Thus, when the adequate levels are reached, placing a ban might not be even necessary. Th ...

There is absolutely no reason why we should continue to import rice while there is ample arable land and farm hands that can produce it.A short fall should motivate Ghanaian to take up farming instead of waiting for rice from India and china to arrive to feed them. Why is it going to be difficult for Ghanaians to produce the quality of rice they need to feed themselves. Go to Nigeria, they have banned rice for years and they have become used to eating the local rice they produce. People like Mr Ansah are worried about the kickbacks they get from rice importers.

This is wat happen wen politicians kills the companies of individuals they perceive as their political opponents. Darko farms, Appiah Minkah and many more were successful in their field but J.J and co killed their companies. Thousands of Ghanaians have the money to invest in rice production but your sucess would depend on which party is in power. Stop these communist inferoir tactics. Open up the market, give rice farmers insentives and let the public decide which typeof rice they would like to eat. Dont impose these unfiltered dirty local rice on us while you politicians enjoy your perfumed rice.
