The gov't must look into the sales of admission forms by our higher learning institutions. We are all talking of high cost of education these are some of the cost which increase it. In this era of technological advancement these forms can be downloaded from the university's website. Students should download the admission forms. Sale of form must be abolished, but if they still want to sell them and be fair the institutions should charge the cost of the forms to those students who are admitted.

If that is what he means , then this guy needs serious education.
To put things straight, let me say that Linguistics is the eye of learning any subject.
Linguistics is the study of languages. In linguitics we study how words are formed, pronounced, where the words come from, why we say this and not that.In fact it is an engine of English language.
I believe strongly that ghana lacks behind technologically because, we don't understand englis .Someone may try to dispute what i am saying but it is true.We have a problem of grasping the scientific words .Had we mustered linguistics well i bet you, we would have to space by now.We chew words but in real and practical understading of what we read becomes a nightmare.
Mikdad, linguistics is as important as any subject. There is no mighty subject whatsoever all subjects are same.?

Ghana's education system was destroyed when our leaders decided to monkey around with the structure. I did understand why some deemed it necessary to reduce the number of years of elementary and secondary school years to be at par with university/college bound age groups in the UK, USA, Canada and others. That gamble failed and failed miserably leaving Ghana with classroom educated but unprepared university bound high school graduating students.
For the past 15 + years, graduating students from Ghana's secondary school and those bound for our universities at best are as mature and prepared as WAEC "O" level candidates of old. The failure of Ghana's leaders to expand classroom sizes at existing universities and or add accredited universities to keep up with the number of potential graduating high school students each year has become grounds for all the bribery, corruption, nepotism and downright immoral activities of secondary school principals/headmasters, university administrators and leaders with political influence in Ghana. This moral decadence has not been helped by the activities of some university students who resort to prostitution to pay their way through school and or the common cheating on exams and grades that is rife in Ghana.
At GIMPA, for example, the people who are tasked with calculating GPA's for students have become thieves using their powers to sell good GPA’s to highest bidders at the school and thus have shown themselves not to have common sense God gave to gnats. Hence the actual GPA’s of graduating GIMPA students last school year and that of the current Masters level classes may end up with GPA calculation beneath the mathematical abilities of class one pupils. It is a shame to be a holder of university degree from anyone of Ghana's universities because most lack the common sense that was at par with "O" level graduates of the old system gone.

I totally agree with you Abeeku the current graduates of Ghanaian universities lack critical thinking skills as clearly demonstrated by the writer this article. The article is devoid of any analysis of the present situation and practice as it pertains to Legon, just paragraphs of disjointed narratives.

Had Legon churned out good students, Ghana would have been on the spot line in the world.
Who is counting Legon one of the leading varsities in africa? Such claim is fallacious at best. What has Legon come out with in terms of research in any field since time immimorial?
What has Legon done scientifically, mathematically, technogically and the rest to befit any status of premier varsity? The answer is capital NO.
Ghana is poor because our universities are weak.Ghana is poor because our universities are not up to par.Ghana is poor becase our universities are useless.
