OAU was formed in the 60s with the leadership of Nkrumah to unite Africa as they help countries to gain their independence. That objective was lost years ago, and so although it morphed to AU with the backing of Gaddafi's money there were no clear objectives and most of the African leaders did not have much faith in Qaddafi who was the financier of the organization. What do you expect from an organization that "DEPENDED" on China to build a headquarters for them? Until we get our individual countries problems under control AU will just be a name with nothing to show for it.

Ghana under Mills-Mahama shamelessly voted at the UN for the NATO bombing and regime-change in Libya, leading to the criminal murder of Ghaddafy. Ghana participates fully in the sham military games of AFRICOM but has never even considered joint exercises with neighbouring Togo or Ivory Coast. I refer to them as AFROPEANS, AFROASIANS and AFROCHINOS..........

The worst of it all is, their meetings are at times funded by the EU. Their newly built headquarters in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the $200m (£127m) project was funded by China as a gift to the AU, as Beijing continues to strengthen its influence in Africa.

So, I guess you can imagine the decisions these spineless breed of leaders would take and in whose favour it would be for.

Not only did AU not raise a voice against the naked NATO aggression against Libya but they all, with the exception of Zimbabwe, sheepishly voted at the UN to authorize the regime-change that has brought nothing but permanent chaos and death by NATO's terrorists to Libya. The whole of West Africa is under AFRICOM now with a forward base now firmly established at Dakar, Senegal and 3000 troops in Liberia, and almost 1000 UK troops destined for Sierra Leone. Sorry, you do not have an independent country anymore.

Professor Mensah Bonsu has rightly said all what is prevailing in the so called AU since it was metamorphosed from the OAU 14 years ago,and many were those who thought it was going to make a significant impact on the union after several years of its existence under the previous name the OAU.Col Gadaffi changed the name just to uphold the monetary advantage he had over the member states of the union and had nothing more to contribute to galvanize it to move forward untill he met his tragic death.The union is financially strapped and has nothing more to contribute to embark upon any tangible project for the success of the union.Leading members fear of initiating military attack on terrorist against a member country for reprisal attacks on its soil and had to wait on International community to start for them to play the second fiddle.As the Prof,has said,up till now the union has not been able to take any concrete desicion to combart the Ebola virus in west Africa but has quickly pointed out fingers at the International community for not acting quickly as it should be.The only thing African leaders know is rethory,rethory in their meetings in Addis Ababa and inventing statutes in recognition of their past leaders.It is time for the African Union to awake,for it has slumbered and slept too long to take responsibility to save its own peoples from terrorism hunger and disease.

This organization should be strengthened and given more power to operate. All African countries should contribute their quota to make it work. We needed dedicated, committed and faithful leaders to steer its affairs. Every country should give about thousand soldiers and when talks fails they move into action. The mere fact that AU has 52000 soldiers will scare insurgents. Boko Haram should have long been taken care of. AU should uphold and strengthen constitutions and hold elections to avoid cheating and unfairness. AU member states should formulate economic, education and other policies that will govern the continent. This means the Chinese can't deal with individual countries but through the AU first to protect individual countries from being cheated. We cannot be in our own continent and still apply for visa. There should be free movement of goods and people. South Africans calls other Africans foreigners. How can an African be a foreigner in his/her own continent? Our certificates are not recognized in other countries. There should be video conferencing where all education ministers and other ministers on the continent can share ideas and draft continental policies. Its tough but AU must start from somewhere.

May be, just may be, if we take the first step to stop corruption in Ghana, it will be the first step to empower Ghana and the rest of Africa to start thinking seriously about the continent and its security.

It's very sad when leaders that the people entrusted their security and well being fail them.But the truth of the matter is that,our leaders have sold their nations to the white man.They have being bought and controlled by the white man.So when they meet at african Union they only think about the interest of their masters and not their citizens.Therefore nothing good can be achieved at the African union meetings so long as the leaders are controlled with money.Because Gaddafi would not submit to their manipulation and control,they found a way of eliminating him.God help Africa.
