In conclusion, the President’s power to appoint the Chairman and Members of the EC is merely a ministerial one. The substantive power of appointment is assigned to the Council of State. The President shall act on the advice of the Council of State means the President is barred from the nomination, vetting and selection process. Those who framed the Constitution were keenly aware of the impropriety inherent in allowing the President, a political player, to play a critical role in selecting the political referee. Nevertheless, out of deference for the office of the President, the framers allowed him, as the Chief Executive Officer, the honour of “appointing” the candidate selected by the Council of State. In this case, all the President is required to do is to issue the appointment letter under the Presidential seal but no more.

This government has no focus and no vision, it is controlled by the wind whereever it is blown to it goes there. The Sports Minister says Ghana will host AFCON, it is received a back lash, then the President comes in to say Ghana has not yet taken a decision. A serious government would have this discussed properly before coming out to talk about it. But this propaganda government doesn't know about this, they just rush to talk looking at the order of the moment and then another government comes to withdraw or re-state the matter depending on the backlash or where the wing blows it to.

If you say we have not decided yet that means you are thinking about it and there is nothing to think about when countries like Morocco and South Africa with better hospital facilities have rejected off-handedly to host AFCON.
It seems to me President Mahama is enjoying the praises he has been receiving from the International community he has lost his mind that ebola is not a joke to play with and Ghanaians are not ready to die so that Mahama can get kudos for being dumb.

And then the factor of Ebola, even America, the best medical system in the World couldn`t contain it.And Mahama is telling Ghanaians,he hasn`t taken a decision yet.Oh,my God.

Mahama, it should not take you one minute to decide not to host the AFCON. If you refuse to reduce petrol prices because you think the country is broke and therefore you want to capitalize on the windfall why would you want to waste our money for an AFCON which we do not want? You have sat down there for the Accra Sports stadium to degenerate into the condition in which we find it now and you want to tell us that you haven`t decided on AFCON? What does the sports minister know about sports for him to be making leading statements? I feel very sorry for our country Ghana with the NDC in power, though I am not politically inclined.

It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution

This just shows what we have on our hands as leaders of this country. This straight forward response, the government is looking for time to take a decision on.
If CAF is insensitive, refuse to use their heads and think they can still host a tournament in Africa despite the havoc EBOLA is wreaking on fellow African brothers and sisters, then, we have a big problem. Do CAF members have feelings for human lives? What is CAF? Who are they? and what do they think they are? The entire bunch of idiots should be made to step down for even harbouring this idea of hosting a tournament. My worst disappointment is with our own government: Where will you get the lights to host the tournament when you dont know when the 24 hour power rationing will be over? How about the World Cup probe? Do you have the recommendations as to the way forward or you will continue the rot from where the World cup left?
How about the IMF bailout? Is our economy now sound? Do you know the implications of one single reported confirmed case of EBOLA in Ghana on business? Do you care about the loss of even one life lost to EBOLA? What is there for you to consider when it has to do with lives of Ghanaians or you think we are your property?

What Mahama has said is going to tarnish the image of Ghanaian professionals abroad. How can the president of a nation betray his citizens this way. When did Mahama know that Ghanaian accountants in public service are corrupt and what did he do about it. This reminds me of my Literay Appreciation class at a polytechnic abroad where the lecturer stated that the mere fact that a person speaks good English does not mean that person is knowledgeable and today this saying is manifesting in the lives of Mahama and all the Achimota and Legon graduates who lay too much emphasis on the speaking of English to the detriment of the acquisition of productive knowledge. No wonder Ghanaians are poor in the midst of plenty because the Legon and Achimota graduates are the ones ruling this nation.

Morocco's decision to pull out hosting the tournament next year is due to the outbreak of the Ebola virus in some West African countries. As Ghanaians, it should be our concern to support Morocco's reasonable decision to avoid the possibly outspread of the deadly virus which no one can predict the end of the outbreak.
Ghana, we should not accept the request of the CAF to be on standby to host the 2015 AFCON should Morocco calls off.
The AFCON is for all Africa Nations to participate and share in. Ghana is doing CAF and Africa no favor to host the game when other countries can not provide their best teams due to the Ebola outbreak.

This shouldn't be an issue for discussion in Ghana. We have a lot of challenges where concentration is much needed. If CAF cannot postpone AFCON 2015 then it shd go to Cameroon, Hayatou's homeland not Ghana.
Mahama Ayariga was used to test the waters. And with the massive outcry and outright rejection from Ghanaians, the best face-saving way out is the response from the President.

You have no cause to decide. You must show maturity. Ghanaians don't need it. Posterity will judge you should you accept to host it and the worse happens

Can African leaders be any smart thinkers? At the time we are struggling to stop the spread of the dreaded deadly Ebola, I think cancelling 2015 AFCON would have been a simple wise decision.
Nothing to think about this. Ghanaians are not the stupid ones in Africa. If anything at all, we should be leading the discussion to postpone not to contemplate on whether or not to accept.
pesident do not think of getting money when you host the AFCONm. think about peoples health.
